This role will work within our AI Labs’ department which is an innovative team that will build, test and deploy leading AI-driven solutions to improve workflows common across both Parexel and the life sciences industry. The team partner and support the business in building best-in-class AI-driven solutions when nothing suitable exists.

This role is to be based in the UK and will be fully home based (you can be located anywhere in the UK). You will be working in an innovative and collaborative environment with international peers, colleagues and a supportive manager.

As the Senior Software Quality Test Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of software quality by developing and executing on test strategy throughout the software development lifecycle, contributing to process improvement, and mentorship of more junior colleagues. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance software quality, improve test coverage, and support both automation and manual testing initiatives.

Key Accountabilities:

Test Planning & Execution

  • Design and develop comprehensive test plans and test cases ensuring robust test coverage and high-quality software

  • Collaborate with product managers and developers to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage

  • Organize/categorize tests to streamline testing processes

  • Update and maintain test documentation ensuring ongoing validity of test suite

  • Perform functional, regression, and integration testing

  • Identify, document, and track software defects, working collaboratively with developers to resolve issues

  • Document test results and test reports

  • Support product release testing

Automated Test

  • Contribute to development and implementation of automated test framework, including development of a sustainable workflow for continued growth, maintenance, and improvement of test automation.

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts and associated documentation

  • Critically evaluate manual tests for automated candidacy

Reporting & Communication

  • Contribute to reporting of quality metrics, test results, and status

  • Collaborate effectively with product, development, and other stakeholders

  • Advocate for user experience and quality in software products

  • Collaborate with team of subject matter expert manual test team

Process Improvement

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the software development lifecycle by staying updated on latest trends, tools, and methodologies in support of QC tasks for development of AI integrated software.

  • Mentorship of more junior colleagues.

Education:

  • Education to degree level in engineering, computer science, or other relevant qualification/experience. 

Skills:

  • Practical understanding of Agile SDLC and QA methodologies

  • Proficiency in test case design and execution

  • Proficiency in manual test and automation

  • Software quality metrics and reporting

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • Internally motivated and accountable

  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Previous Senior Software Testing experience required operating as a Software Tester, Validation Engineer or Quality Assurance Engineer.

  • Experienced in developing and executing regression test plans, creating and maintaining test cases for new features, and ensuring the ongoing validity of existing test suites.

  • Committed to continuously improving testing processes and frameworks, proactively addressing flaky or broken tests and optimizing test coverage.

  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.

  • Experience using Confluence and Jira.

  • Experience with both automated and manual testing techniques

  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools (Github Actions)

  • Hands-on experience with current automated test tools and methodologies

  • Experience with automated evaluation frameworks for AI integrated components a plus.
