We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join our dynamic Slalom team. In this position, you will be responsible for designing, building, and executing high-quality testing strategies that ensure the performance and reliability of our applications.
Position Title: Senior Quality Engineer
Location: Remote - Colombia
What you will be doing:
The Senior Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our applications through the design, development, and execution of comprehensive testing strategies. You will be responsible for identifying, implementing, and executing testing best practices that align with our product engineering team’s goals, supporting their professional growth and contributing to projects that shape the data landscape within a dynamic organization Your responsibilities include:
  • Testing Strategy Design: You will design and implement testing strategies to ensure our applications meet high-quality standards. This will involve leveraging best practices and patterns for comprehensive test coverage.
  • Test Automation: You will write high-quality, maintainable test code, particularly using TypeScript and Playwright, to automate testing for various aspects of the application, ensuring end-to-end reliability.
  • Collaboration: You will work closely with product engineers, providing input on testability, contributing to technical discussions, and helping identify optimal solutions to complex challenges.
  • Issue Troubleshooting: You will help troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, working to identify and fix defects in a timely manner, ensuring that the software meets functional and performance requirements.
  • Full Stack Testing: You will conduct integrated front-end testing and RESTful web application testing to ensure the overall user experience is smooth and the system operates as expected in all conditions.
Requirements & Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should possess:
  • 5+ years of advanced experience in TypeScript for writing clean, maintainable automated tests, ensuring high test coverage and stable applications.
  • Experienced in JavaScript, Python, or Shell for automating workflows, creating test utilities, and enhancing testing efficiency.
  • Strong experience with Playwright for automating end-to-end tests across multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, WebKit) to ensure consistent functionality.
  • Excellent written and verbal English for clear documentation of test plans, bug reports, and technical discussions.
  • Comfortable working in a Mac OS environment for testing, setting up test environments, and using macOS-specific debugging tools.
  • Familiarity with testing applications built on distributed systems, ensuring performance and reliability at scale.
  • Understanding of event-based architectures and their implications on testing workflows.
  • Experience in testing integrated front-end systems, ensuring that the entire UI works as expected in real-world conditions.
  • Proven experience in testing RESTful web applications, ensuring they meet performance, security, and functional requirements.
  • Familiarity with Jira and BitBucket for tracking testing progress, managing issues, and maintaining version control.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in evaluating Large Language Models (LLMs) for accuracy, performance, and consistency. You will work on testing AI-driven features that rely on LLMs, ensuring they meet the defined quality benchmarks for functionality and data processing capabilities.
  • Familiarity with GenAI applications, specifically evaluating their AI-driven features, ensuring they integrate properly with the rest of the system, and validating the performance and reliability of GenAI-powered features in real-world scenarios.
