Job description

This is a remote position.

40 hours a week

Mon-Fri 8 AM- 5 PM California time, includes 1h unpaid break

JOB DESCRIPTION: BACK OFFICE MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Scope:

  • Full-time position (8 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
  • Clinical support and patient care coordination
  • Direct patient communication and education
  • Collaboration with physicians and healthcare team
  • HIPAA compliance responsibility
  • Staggered lunch breaks for continuous coverage

Responsibilities:

  • Handle patient clinical concerns with 60-70% first-call resolution
  • Process medication refill requests
  • Order and manage laboratory tests as directed by physicians
  • Provide clinical answers to patient questions within scope
  • Relay physician responses to patients
  • Maintain patient records and clinical documentation
  • Handle prior authorizations
  • Provide backup support for front office operations


Requirements


  • Medical Assistant background or equivalent clinical experience
  • Strong clinical knowledge and patient care experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience with medication refill protocols
  • Knowledge of laboratory ordering procedures
  • Familiarity with electronic health records systems
