Job description

Client & Project:
We are looking for a talented Database Administrator to join our Software Engineering team, working on a high-impact project for a leading company in the entertainment and media industry. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and performance of mission-critical systems that support dynamic, data-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, develop, test, and demonstrate complex database solutions to meet business and technical requirements.

  • Design, implement, and maintain new databases with an emphasis on high availability, security, and scalability.

  • Perform database backup and recovery operations, manage configuration, and ensure robust data lifecycle management.

  • Optimize and tune database performance by monitoring activity, analyzing performance metrics, and implementing improvements.

  • Leverage Splunk to correlate real-time data, build and maintain alerts, dashboards, reports, and visualizations that drive actionable insights.

  • Utilize Splunk’s Search Processing Language (SPL) to analyze machine data for supporting IT operations, security monitoring, and business intelligence.

  • Develop and enforce database security policies and procedures to ensure compliance and data integrity.

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in both database management and Splunk; provide mentorship and lead decision-making within the team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced analytics solutions and contribute to strategic initiatives across multiple departments.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with Splunk, including data capture, indexing, alert creation, and dashboard/report development.

  • Strong command of SPL for data analysis and operational intelligence.

  • Advanced proficiency in Database Management, including:

    • Database Optimization & Tuning

    • Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting

    • Database Activity Monitoring

    • Data Analytics & Visualization

  • Experience with database security, data integrity policies, and best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in team-based environments.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive approach to knowledge sharing and leadership.
