Job description

Interwell Health is a kidney care management company that partners with physicians on its mission to reimagine healthcare—with the expertise, scale, compassion, and vision to set the standard for the industry and help patients live their best lives. We are on a mission to help people and we know the work we do changes their lives. If there is a better way, we will create it. So, if our mission speaks to you, join us!

Interwell Health is hiring! We’re looking for a seasoned leader to help build and scale a high-impact program designed to enhance patient care and elevate documentation standards, playing a critical role in advancing our value-based care strategy. As the Clinical Documentation Support (CDS) Manager, you’ll report to the Director of Provider Education and play a key role in bridging documentation accuracy, provider engagement, and operational excellence. You will oversee the strategic direction, implementation, and outcomes of the new Clinical Documentation Support (CDS) program across the market, building the workflows, monitoring team performance, and ensuring high-quality coding recommendations. If you enjoy working collaboratively, know how to build trust and engagement, and thrive in a space where compliance, accuracy, and impact matter, we want to hear from you!

The work you will do:

  • Develop and implement CDS strategies to improve documentation accuracy and support organizational goals.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the CDS program.
  • Communicate CDS performance metrics and success stories market wide.
  • Lead a team of local CDS specialists embedded within care teams.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to CDS specialists and provider champions.
  • Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to develop dashboards, reports, and insights.
  • Oversee the implementation and utilization of CDS-specific software (e.g., Nuance, 3M, Optum, Epic).
  • Coordinate pre-encounter preparation and real-time documentation support with CDS specialists.
  • Conduct post-encounter reviews to identify missed opportunities or inconsistencies.
  • Track and report on accuracy metrics, provider engagement, financial impact, and quality measures.
  • Address recurring challenges in documentation quality or provider adoption through an established escalation process.
  • Stay updated on coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and clinical trends.
  • Ensure compliance with ICD-10 and CMS coding guidelines.

The skills and qualifications you need:

  • 5+ years of experience with Risk Adjustment HCC coding or abstraction.
  • 3+ years of ICD-10 coding and chart Review Auditing.
  • Proven experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Experience in ambulatory/outpatient settings, ideally with Nephrology specialty practices.
  • Skilled in MS Office, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint to track and present program progress.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable with ambiguity and evolving workflows.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with providers and practice teams, building trust and engagement.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HCC coding rules & regulations.
  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) required.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Epic system preferred.

Our mission is to reinvent healthcare to help patients live their best lives, and we proudly live our mission-driven values:

- We care deeply about the people we serve.
- We are better when we work together.
- Humility is a source of our strength.
- We bring joy to our work.
- We deliver on our promises.

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout our recruiting practices. Everyone is welcome and included. We value our differences and learn from each other. Our team members come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. No matter how you identify your lifestyle, creed, or fandom, we value everyone's unique journey.

Oh, and one more thing … a recent study shows that men apply for a job or promotion when they meet only 60% of the qualifications, but women and other marginalized groups apply only if they meet 100% of them. So, if you think you’d be a great fit, but don’t necessarily meet every single requirement on one of our job openings, please still apply. We’d love to consider your application!

Come join us and help our patients live their best lives. Learn more at www.interwellhealth.com.

It has come to our attention that some individuals or organizations are reaching out to job seekers and posing as potential employers presenting enticing employment offers. We want to emphasize that these offers are not associated with our company and may be fraudulent in nature. Please note that our organization will not extend a job offer without prior communication with our recruiting team, hiring managers and a formal interview process.
