Underwriter, Residential Mortgages
Canada - Remote
Salary Range:
$70,000 - $85,000 /yr. + Monthly Variable Volume Bonus
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Underwriter, Residential Mortgages to join our growing team. In this position, you will take a customer forward approach when working closely with the Residential Sales team and our broker channel. You will utilize your detailed knowledge of the residential mortgage industry, conditions management, and regulatory compliance and sound decision-making skills to adjudicate mortgage applications originated through the broker network within an end-to-end environment. Our successful candidate will employ strong solution-focused communication skills to deliver their message and be highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
About The Role
Establish and maintain positive relationships with mortgage brokers to build loyalty to CMLS Financial
Provide the highest level of internal and external customer service while fielding mortgage broker inquiries to build and maintain strong broker relationships
Maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners such as regional managers, funders, mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, and solicitors
Adjudicate mortgage applications within established authority limits while ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines
Deliver timely mortgage solutions, while applying a high degree of accuracy and quality to the file during the underwriting process
Effective management of approved loans pipeline to ensure deals close as scheduled or moved, cancelled as required
Ensure due diligence has been completed for loan approval and prior to signing off on any mortgage conditions or documents, where applicable
Prepare and issue mortgage commitments with appropriate conditions within established service level agreements/turnaround times
Prioritize applications and workflow to ensure consistent and sound risk assessments are maintained while managing high volumes and a continued focus on service excellence
Provide liaison and support for all business partners
This Role Is For You If
You have demonstrated sound credit judgement with knowledge of legislation regarding risk related mortgage laws
You possess a strong customer service focus with the ability to cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
You have 2-5 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
You possess a highly positive “can do” attitude and excellent communication skills
Positive team player with desire and ability to mentor others
You take ownership of your tasks by working proactively and being driven by delivering high quality outputs
You have the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively within in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
