C. H Robinson is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to manage our platform - Braze, Marketo and future marketing automation platforms. In this role, you will act as a technical leader on the MarTech team. You work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, and other leaders to define, estimate, and design complex, strategic solutions that delight our customers. You are responsible for driving innovation through leadership, influence, and discussions. In addition, the role is also responsible for impacting and continuously improving our engineering process and mentoring other engineers across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- Analyze and translate high-level customer requirements into detailed designs to solve complex business problems. Design solutions that align to the long-term plan for a service or platform based on deep expertise and customer insights.
- Perform product integration tasks of implementation, customization, data mapping, data conversion, and data migration, specifically focusing on ETL tools like SSIS, Workato, and other ETL tools. Migrate and manipulate data from external software platform(s) into our domain.
- Integrate solutions and services that are scalable and high availability to our internal domain using complex out-of-the-box tools, features, and solutions from the platform. Identify, suggest, and implement redesign and improvements to our platforms.
- Satisfy requirements of moderate complexity by implementing solutions and collaborating with product manager(s) and peers. Configure or develop platform and design solutions independently to satisfy customer requirements that consider performance and availability.
- Develop customized solutions (when necessary). Define interfaces and develop solutions for modules across platforms or services and may influence or drive architectural changes.
- Provide configuration guidance and assistance to other engineers. Ensure integrity of application architecture and collaborate with architects on design.
- Design high-quality solutions that integrate within the application domain. Assist the team in promoting code within our pipeline/code and assist in resolving promotion issues or impediments.
- Proactively identify complex performance and availability issues, troubleshoot, provide effective options, and resolve issues in production that could span multiple platform areas. Maintain the stability and usability of the platform across production and non-production environments.
- Provide operational support for complex incidents. Lead upgrade planning and execution.
- Understand and/or participate in licensing model/structure/cost drivers. Develop and maintain thorough architectural documentation for the platform or service.
- Develop and manage strategic roadmaps for transforming platform systems from current-state to future-state. Design platforms or services by using secure programming patterns and by finding, fixing, and enhancing security in existing applications.
- Ensure security best practices are part of the design and implementation of new features and applications. Ensure best practices for external consumers are followed and tokens are shared appropriately with new consumers.
- Lead collaboration with platform teams, infrastructure specialists, product managers, and external partners in development efforts. Provide more accurate technical estimates for complex projects that span multiple platform areas including work, time, resources, skill needs, and risk assessment.
- Provide input to help evolve business use case value. Anticipate business needs and present options to leadership and business stakeholders with platform managers.
- Ensure on-time delivery by keeping internal and external stakeholders informed, setting and maintaining project scope and timelines, identifying and mitigating risks, partnering with others to resolve issues, leading and facilitating multiple projects, managing day-to-day work, negotiating timelines, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Identify technologies or solutions that differ from the current technology stack or represent innovative uses of existing technologies. Construct and deliver proposed solution strategies for potential new technologies and work with architecture to review and approve proposals.
- Recognized as an internal subject matter expert. Collaborate within the team to define new ways of thinking to improve quality, engineering excellence, and productivity.
- Mentor, coach, provide guidance, and assessment to other team members. Lead by example, influence the team to positively support change.
- Proactively seek mentorship from others. Lead the effort in defining the engineering lifecycle and practices for the team and associated teams in partnership with the principal platform engineer.
- Write complex SQL statements to support data analysis, integration, and reporting needs.
- Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country-specific requirements like data privacy laws.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience with implementing/enhancing a global platform.
- Experience in owning and delivering projects and results of increasing technical complexity.
- Experience in integrating with cloud-native applications and services (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., GIT, GitHub, TFS, etc.).
- Experience with unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
- Experience with respective platform architecture and platform integration protocols.
- Understanding of security architecture and configuration within the respective platform to align to existing security standards.
- Experience with communication orchestration platforms like Braze, Marketo, Dynamics 365 for both marketing and operational use cases.
- Experience with ETL tools like SSIS, Workato, and other ETL tools.
- Experience with data governance and privacy adherence.
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL statements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IS, MIS, or other technology degree or minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience and high school diploma/GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with transportation, logistics, or business systems.
- Experience with CI/CD continuous integration / continuous deployment practices.
- Experience using (or exposure to) languages such as Java, JSON, XML, HTML, JavaScript, , Web Services (REST / SOAP), Powershell.
- Experience with data streaming architecture and frameworks (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, ESB).
- Understanding of underlying data structures within a given platform, and how that structure supports platform features and functionality.
- Ability to create custom data structures in support of requirements.
- Ability to relate platform data models across platforms/solutions in support of integrations.
- Proven track record of effectively delivering results in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Possess excellent communication skills and strong customer focus.
- Effective collaborator, experienced in creating technical partnerships across teams.
- Able to learn and understand the various technical domains across the enterprise and able to communicate complex technical and business concepts across the enterprise and various business stakeholders.

Compensation Range
$83,500.00 - $185,400.00
The base pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Your individual base pay within this range is determined by work location, which takes into account geographic cost of labor, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base pay only and do not include additional variable compensation.
