This is a high-impact, strategic role where you’ll define visual standards by managing our design system, bringing visual expertise to our member experience, and collaborating with marketing on branding and storytelling. Champion Visual Design Excellence:Set the bar for visual design across our products and services—defining what great looks like and ensuring that our member experience is trustworthy, simple, clear and compelling. Educate and inspire teams across disciplines on how strong visual design builds member trust and enhances the overall experience. Lead critiques, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions to grow the team’s visual design craft.Partner with Brand Marketing to translate and evolve the IH brand across digital product surfaces.Audit and refine existing experiences to bring them in line with visual design best practices.Lead and Scale the Design System:Own the vision and strategy for Included Health’s design system (taking into consideration current AI tools) and ensure that it meets the needs of designers, engineers, and the business. Define and evolve foundational components, patterns, and guidelines to create a cohesive, accessible, and scalable design language. Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring our system meets WCAG standards and serves diverse user needs. Partner with engineering to ensure seamless implementation, high-quality execution, and performance optimization. Establish governance and contribution models, enabling designers and engineers to contribute while maintaining consistency and quality. Facilitate workshops, critiques, and training sessions to educate teams and drive adoption.Drive Innovation and Future Thinking:Stay ahead of industry trends, bringing new ideas and methodologies to elevate our visual design excellence and standards. Explore emerging technologies, such as AI-driven design tools, to enhance visual excellence and creativity. Continuously refine and evolve our definition of what good looks like and how our systems support this at scale based on feedback, data, and business needs. Qualifications:8+ years of experience as a visual product designer, with at least 3 years focused on design systems that have been successfully implemented and widely adopted.Exceptional visual and interaction design skills, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality UI, visual design, system thinking, and scalable design solutions.Strong collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work closely with engineers to ensure seamless implementation and high-quality execution.Strategic mindset, with the ability to define and execute a long-term vision for a design system and visual design excellence that scales with the company.Proactive and self-guided, able to navigate ambiguity, create clarity, and drive initiatives forward independently.Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to articulate design decisions, trade-offs, and system value to diverse audiences.Bonus: Experience in healthcare, enterprise, or complex product ecosystems, and familiarity with front-end development (HTML, CSS, React, etc.) to bridge the gap between design and engineering.Physical/Cognitive Requirements:Prompt and regular attendance at assigned work location.Ability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods.Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment.No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., lifting a computer / laptop) may be required.Ability to interact with leadership, employees, and members in an appropriate manner.The United States new hire base salary target ranges for this full-time position are:
Zone A: 149,450 - 211,100 + equity + benefits
Zone B: 164,395 - 232,210 + equity + benefits
Zone C: 179,340 - 253,320 + equity + benefits
Zone D: 194,285 - 274,430 + equity + benefits
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for candidates based on their respective Zone. Below is additional information on Included Health's commitment to maintaining transparent and equitable compensation practices across our distinct geographic zones.
Starting base salary for the successful candidate will depend on several job-related factors, unique to each candidate, which may include, but not limited to, education; training; skill set; years and depth of experience; certifications and licensure; business needs; internal peer equity; organizational considerations; and alignment with geographic and market data. Compensation structures and ranges are tailored to each zone's unique market conditions to ensure that all employees receive fair and competitive compensation based on their roles and locations. In addition to earning a base salary, this role is eligible for a performance-based bonus. Details of the Annual Bonus Plan, including performance metrics, target incentives, and potential earnings, will be discussed during the interview process.
