POSITION SUMMARY:
Implements the company’s HSE function in accordance with global / regional policies and procedures to meet the business requirements. As part of a multifunctional team, will partner with all areas of our organization to develop effective and progressive safety solutions to drive a culture of safety excellence and performance improvement, with sustainable change.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Serves as the champion of safe behaviors, safe manufacturing processes and safety process improvements, working directly with the management team to drive hazard awareness and injury prevention. Drive transformation and foster innovation.
- Reviews, implements, and provides overall guidance for implementation of company-wide safety programs such as behavior-based safety programs, non-routine task evaluations, risk assessments, new ISO safety and environmental standards, and general corporate safety policies and programs.
- Provides proactive insight and guidance when reviewing engineering controls/design changes to minimize safety and occupational hazards. (e.g., machine guarding, ergonomics, traffic, fire/explosion, noise, upset conditions)
- Conduct post-accident investigations to determine the root cause and develop effective and timely action plans.
- Leads, mentors, empowers, and guides a local teams to develop standard safe work standards, conduct follow up work related to safety incidents, near misses, and safety improvement suggestions from employees, developing out of the box solutions for more complex safety challenges when needed.
- Complete inspection, monitoring, measurement, analytical testing, and recordkeeping requirements for environmental permits including air, storm water, process wastewater, and hazardous waste.
- Lead team to prepare and ensure timely submission of environmental reports to government agencies
- Ensures that all regulatory and internal environmental reporting and documentation requirements are satisfied while maintaining responsibility for the analysis and investigation of all environmental incidents.
- Provides HSE technical expertise and leadership for the Sales and Services team.
- Gives timely response to internal and external customers. Clearly communicates with team members through face-to-face meetings, phone, email, and other written correspondence.
- Lead team to be prepared to interact with HSE regulatory authorities, (OH&S, CSA, OSHA, MSHA, EPA) in the context of inspections and new regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Global and Regional resources to utilize outside expertise and pilot new programs.
- Develops forward thinking ideas by partnering with site leadership to develop new insightful solutions to daily issues and mitigate risk.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- FORMAL EDUCATION:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health & Safety / related Engineering / Science field and or equivalent HSE experience
- KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:
- 5 – 8 years of HSE experience with progressing responsibilities
- Minimum of 3 years in leading, coaching and mentoring a team
- Training in ISO 14001, 45001 and 50001
- Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the organization
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with ability to interface seamlessly with all levels of management.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, online software platforms, with the ability to use spreadsheets and data analysis application
- Self-starter, motivated team player, with ability to bring alternate points of view to the discussion and analysis
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and effectively organize responsibilities. Strong project management and leadership skills, self-motivating skillset that drives results both autonomously and in a team environment
- CERTIFICATIONS:
Preferred:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

- Management of core rubrics, acts as an SME for the company. Can lead HSE support for the Sales and Services team based upon HSE risk and aspects profile.
