The Job

As a Platform Engineering Manager, you will lead a diverse team responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising foundational technologies and infrastructure solutions that support the platforms of the entire SimPro Group.

Your role will be pivotal in driving technical excellence, standardisation, and innovation across multiple business domains.

The role will report directly to the Vice President(s)/Director(s) of Engineering in the SimPro Group.

Day-to-day direction will be taken in consultation across these managers.

What You’ll Do


Leadership and Team Development:

- Lead and mentor a team of platform/devops/cloud engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment across multiple business units.

- Mentor and guide staff in career development, personal and identified growth opportunities, and technical development.

- Provide guidance on technical strategy and development priorities, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry standard


Platform Architecture and Development:
 

- Drive the design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and secure platform solutions that meet the unique needs of each business unit.

- Collaborate with architecture teams to define standards, best practices, and reusable components that enhance efficiency and maintainability.

- Work with development teams in implementing architectural changes at a platform level

Platform Security:
 

- Developing and implementing security strategies aligned with business goals

Identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities (i.e. via but not limited to regular Penetration Testing)

- Leading incident response efforts to address and mitigate security incidents promptly, with an expectation to be available for on-call rota.
 

Operational Excellence and Efficiency:
 

- Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of platform services through proactive monitoring, automation, and continuous improvement.

- Partner with managers to streamline deployment processes, optimise resource utilisation, and enhance operational workflows.

- Proactively research, investigate, and implement cost optimisations
 

Cross-functional Collaboration:
 

- Work closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and software engineering teams to prioritise platform features and enhancements.

- Advocate for platform investments that deliver tangible business value, driving consensus and alignment across diverse business requirements.
 

Technical Strategy and Innovation:
 

- Define and execute a cohesive technical roadmap for platform evolution, leveraging emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain competitive advantage.

- Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and infrastructure solutions to optimise performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency across multiple business domains.
 

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:
 

- Communicate effectively with leadership, presenting updates, strategic initiatives, and key metrics related to platform performance and business impact.

- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and driving collective decision-making to support organisational objectives.

What You’ll Bring

- Experience in Platform Architectures and Development

- Knowledge of platform security strategies
