Job description

This is a remote position.

A reputable Edtech company is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper on a part-time remote basis, for 4 hours per week. The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting background, excellent organizational skills, and a proven track record of working with QuickBooks Online. Very fine attention to detail is a must. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and client billing.

Key Responsibilities:
● Manage and maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks
● Process accounts payable and receivable
● Reconcile bank account
● Prepare monthly financial reports and management accounts
● Maintain and balance general ledger accounts
● Assist with budgeting and forecasting
● Support year-end audits and liaise with external accountants
● Identify ways human error could occur in any step of our processes and create backup checks for
each of those steps of the process to ensure all errors would be detected and corrected.
● Provide monthly financial analysis of service offerings and customer Profit and Loss report

Requirements:
● Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience
● Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and how to 1) Use Projects in QBO and 2) Set up two budgets in each QBO Project to bill both costs against and client invoices against
● Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
● High level of integrity and confidentiality
● Ability to work independently and remotely
● Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
● Experience with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets

Preferred Qualifications:
● Diploma or degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or related field
● Experience working with companies made up of contractors
● Experience in the Edtech space
● Familiarity with cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.)

Working Hours & Flexibility:
● This is a part-time role, with flexible working hours, 4 hours per week
● Availability for occasional meetings during South African business hours
