About the Insurance Product Design Team

The problems to solve, the realized value, and the outcomes of the product design practice have seen immense growth over the last two and a half years. Whether it be for our B2C or B2B experiences, web or native apps, or for our internal and external users, our mission is to create shared understanding towards our product opportunities, be data-driven in our advocacy for users, and deliver exceptional experiences. Starting as a nimble team of two designers two and a half years ago, we are now a thriving team of eleven dedicated to several different product suites. The culture of product design is always evolving, and we emulate that always-on evolution. Join our team if you value a learning mindset, a fast culture of collaboration and want to enjoy the team you work with along the way.

About the Role

Within LNRS, our company goals and the quality of our users’ experiences are deeply connected. As such, Product Design is highly valued for translating high level business objectives into tangible, meaningful product opportunities, and satisfying user experiences proven through data-driven results. This role, Product Designer, owns all discovery research, solution design, and validation for their product suite which is called Human API. Beyond the tactical UX/ UI skills, a successful product designer on this team exemplifies strong communication and relationship management, steadfast ownership and resilience in problem solving. A successful product designer also demonstrates deep empathy, not just for our users, but for the team around them. Every product designer on this team is empowered to think strategically. Designers are given the problem to solve, but they retain the space and autonomy to decide how to solve that problem. Within this space, support, guidance and mentorship will always be present and available through our core design team.

About You

  • Desire and forge the right conditions for high collaboration between your product design team and product managers, developers, business analysts or stakeholders. When a strong partnership hasn’t been established, your relationship management and communication skills forge the path of collaboration and shared understanding to help foster the right conditions for product design success.
  • Willing to question the ‘problems to solve’ that are identified by your team as well as the solutions your team proposes.
  • Bring humility to your own work and expect the same from the people around you.
  • Keep a steady pulse on how ‘best-in-class’ is evolving within the Product Design practice – how it is influenced by emerging technology, competitors, or the changing needs seen in your users’ product ecosystem.
  • Experienced with building, iterating and maintaining flexible design systems, preferably using Figma
  • 3+ years of experience in Product Design or UX Design, ideally working within a Product-driven team or organization
  • Someone who prescribes to the same or similar values as this team’s:
    • We are not our research; we are not our designs. As designers and researchers, we can critique our work and others’ work independently of the designer who made them. In fact, we help each other grow by constantly reviewing and offering critiques/ ideas. The best work is always pressure tested.
    • We have deep empathy and not just for our users, but also for the product managers, business analysts, developers, and other designers on our team. Our ability to positively affect our users derives from the trust and support we provide our team.
    • Pixel perfect designs are for our users’ benefit not for our own. With that in mind, let’s be comfortable sharing in-progress work. This also pushes us to collaborate, learn, and improve each other as much as we can.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • You will contribute to and help define what success means for your users and how it relates to our company goals.
  • You will grow your knowledge base of UX tactics and methods that are used to build a user experience from the ground up.
  • Throughout your work, you will prove the success of the UX process and be able to show iterative improvement within our users’ experiences.
  • Within the organization, you will create true advocates and trusted partners of the UX process.
  • You will drive measurable impact at a fast pace with a focus on user value, adoption, and satisfaction.
  • You will help change the insurance industry from the ground up — making a real world impact for people and doing it with an awesome, passionate group of people.
  • Contribute tangibly and intangibly to a growing culture and influence of design-thinking within a global company of 10,800 people.
  • Translate OKRs and KPIs in a way that reflects what success means for your users, binding that success to our company strategy.
  • Prove real, measurable business value through the product design practice, influencing the wider LNRS organization and our insurance industry as a whole.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own the qualitative and quantitative outcomes of your product’s design process. Inclusive but not exclusive to the delivery of the following materials:
    • Generative research plans and findings presentations
    • User journey and information architecture artifacts
    • User flows and low fidelity wireframes or sketches
    • High fidelity, interactive prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
    • Evaluative research plans and findings presentations
    • Developer-ready design documentation and guidelines to follow
  • Track and present your team’s project status and results to senior leadership and business stakeholders
  • Be an effective voice of advocacy for UX while ensuring alignment of your users’ needs to the OKRs and KPIs of your dedicated product suites
  • Provide regular feedback to your manager on where you need guidance and what can help you grow as a product designer
  • Contribute to the conditions needed for a positive, constructive environment to thrive, one where everyone feels valued and is excited to build best-in-class work together
