POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Director Product Innovation, Marketing is a key leadership role responsible for identifying white space opportunities, driving consumer-led innovation, and guiding new product development from concept to commercialization. This individual will sit at the intersection of consumer insights, brand strategy, R&D, and go-to-market execution—bridging long-term brand vision with short-term business impact, focused non-exclusively on the Sports Performance Nutrition arena. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, creative problem-solver, and proven leader with extensive experience in brand and product strategy, product development, and cross-functional collaboration.

This is a remote position with 10-15% travel required.


RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • For the Sports Performance line, lead the end-to-end innovation pipeline strategy—from trend identification and concept development to launch strategy and post-launch analysis.
  • Develop a clear and actionable 1–3 year innovation roadmap aligned with brand and business objectives, in collaboration with brand, R&D and scientific affairs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Consumer Insights, Brand Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain to bring new ideas to market.
  • Manage consumer research opportunities to uncover consumer needs, translate trends into product opportunities, and validate concepts via qualitative and quantitative research.
  • In collaboration with R&D, manage the innovation-stage gate process, ensuring disciplined execution, risk assessment, and resource planning.
  • Drive the strategic positioning and storytelling of new product launches in collaboration with brand, scientific and creative teams.
  • Monitor competitive landscape, emerging market trends, and adjacent category innovation to maintain a future- forward POV.
  • Manage external agencies, partners, and vendors as needed for concept development, design, or research.
  • Serve as a thought leader within the organization, influencing senior stakeholders and guiding innovation culture.
  • Identify opportunities for product bundling and multi-pack solutions to enhance value perception, cross-selling potential, and customer retention.
  • Work with go-to-market teams to develop product positioning, product forecasts and pricing strategies.
  • Actively participate in required training, development programs, and electives as suit one’s needs, and support colleagues, trainers, and management as appropriate with these efforts.

EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES / PROFICIENCIES 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Product Development, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in brand strategy, innovation, and product development, preferably within the VMS/supplementation space with a focus on sports performance.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching innovative products and leading large-scale brand initiatives.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and external partners in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to perform simple and complex calculations and conversions as related to laboratory equations and requirements.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong ability to translate insights and ideas into actionable plans.
  • Deep understanding of product development lifecycles, consumer trends, and marketing integration.
  • Expertise in packaging innovation, product line extensions with a focus on enhancing consumer experience.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Successful track record of innovating new products in a fast-paced DTC/CPG organization in the dietary supplement/functional nutrition industries.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to think strategically, manage and master ambiguity, and act/operate in a high change, fast paced environment.
  • Initiates and executes short- and long-term projects
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator and able to influence without authority.
  • Excellent presentation skills to all levels of business and technical management.
  • Experience working in a New Product Development leadership role in global dietary supplement is preferred.
  • Ability to act independently in making decisions at the department leadership level.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and engage others in a positive manner.
  • Possess strong attention to detail.
  • Raise issues and concerns promptly.
  • Document and present work in a clear and concise manner.
