The Role & What You Will Be Doing 

Reporting to the Pharmacy Commercial Lead, a Key Account Manager will be typically be responsible for the negotiation of £10M+ pa of the Pharmacy portfolio including prescription and OTC medicines. Employing Key Account Management principles to develop and maintain customer relationships with specified key accounts, working at a National level, in order to develop and deploy a customer centric Value Proposition to maximise sales revenue and ensure a continuous supply chain to meet customer needs. The role will work cross functionally with the Pharmacy Support Manager to deliver bespoke and tailored value-based healthcare solutions that support the commercial performance and build strong partnerships across key stake holders.

  • Using Key Account Management principles, develop and maintain business relationships throughout the customer organisation within complex, strategic, national pharmacy accounts, to meet sales targets and deliver against our Pharmacy CVP offering in line with the Viatris strategy.
  • Understand the key needs of the customer, and develop aligned strategies that deliver demonstrated business benefit to both organisations
  • Anticipate and identify opportunities/issues that may affect business performance or supply chain demands and instigate solutions to manage them.
  • Regular provision of customer insight relating to the accounts and the broader pharmacy environment to aid the development of customer-centric strategies
  • Contribute to the development of sales and marketing plans to increase/strengthen business across accounts by gathering and disseminating up-to-date market intelligence. 
  • Have a clear focus on measuring impact and performance, bring an agile mindset to learn and adapt the plan to optimise performance.

  • Monitor and identify national trends in sales to effectively manage disruptions or falling sales, taking action and re-negotiating contracts when necessary.  Collate, analyse and disseminate relevant market information to support development of sales opportunities.
  • Investigate and develop opportunities to create additional business through the use of the Pharmacy CVP. 
  • Develop, negotiate and implement appropriate trade marketing agreements for the Viatris OTC portfolio to drive net revenue growth and profitability.
  • Identify and negotiate with future prospective partners in order to evaluate all projects development potential and to contribute to the business plan development.

  • Develop constructive internal and cross-functional relationships with key departments to facilitate team-work, the exchange of information and the development of business opportunities.
  • Work with the Pharmacy, Retail marketing, Digital Marketing and Medical to identify and implement innovative concepts to ensure future market needs and changes are met. 
  • Support the Pharmacy Development Manager to project manager customer teams to ensure effective development and implementation of co-creation projects

About Your Skills & Experience 

For this role, we’re looking for a candidate who has an effective combination of the following qualifications, skills and experiences: 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • Certifications: Must be ABPI and PAGB qualified
  • Proven experience in account management
  • Strong knowledge of the ethical pharmaceutical supply chain
  • Strategic and logical planning skills
  • Highly skilled in preparation, presentation, and communication
  • Strong numeric ability and initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate across all organizational levels
  • Solid grasp of marketing and trade marketing principles
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and innovation in Sales
  • English Proficiency: Advanced level
