Job description

This is a remote position.

Schedule:

  • 15 hours per week, 3 days a week at 5 hours per day
  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 1PM to 6PM Sydney, NSW

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing professional services practice, working directly with retail clients while helping to modernize their financial systems. You’ll play a key role in managing the financial operations of an established retail business, including leading a significant system migration project from legacy software to Xero. This position offers the perfect blend of traditional bookkeeping responsibilities and modern accounting practices, with real potential for growth as the business expands. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your workflow while working closely with the business owner to establish and maintain efficient financial processes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the migration project from Reckon to Xero, ensuring accurate data transfer and system setup
  • Manage daily bookkeeping operations for retail clients, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Process and reconcile financial transactions with high attention to detail
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and documentation
  • Generate regular financial reports and analyses
  • Establish and maintain efficient bookkeeping processes
  • Collaborate directly with the business owner on financial matters and process improvements
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience as a Bookkeeper or similar
  • Proven experience with Xero accounting software
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles and practices
  • Background in retail industry accounting preferred
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated experience with accounting system migrations
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Flexible availability during Australian business hours
  • Experience with modern accounting tools and technologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
