Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper to support our remote accounting team. This role is suited to candidates who have completed internal training at CG1 level or those with prior exposure to bookkeeping processes.

You will be responsible for preparing first-draft reconciliations, basic financial reports, and indirect tax returns under guidance. Your work will contribute directly to client deliverables, subject to review by senior staff.

As an ACCA Approved Employer, Chakra Partners is able to sign off your Practical Experience Requirements (PER). After successfully completing your contract, you may be eligible to have at least the following performance objectives signed off: PO6: Record and process transactions, and PO2: Stakeholder relationship management. Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • GL: Handle high volumes of data entry and coding in Xero, MYOB, and QB.
  • Account Reconciliations: Prepare and reconcile bank and credit accounts.
  • Accounts Processing: Process accounts payables, accounts receivables, petty cash, payroll, and fixed asset registers.
  • Report and Working Papers: Prepare high quality draft cash-basis financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Indirect Tax Returns: Prepare “first draft” and file GST, VAT and payroll returns.
  • Practice Reports: Generate computerised internal practice management reports.
  • Document Management: Maintain well-organised digital files for quality assurance and audit readiness.
  • SOPs and Client Files: Update standard operating procedures and maintain briefing notes in the permanent client folders.
  • General Support: Assist with other bookkeeping and accounting tasks as required.

Qualifications, Skills, And Experience

  • Education: B.Com or M.Com (in progress or completed); ACCA students preferred.
  • Certifications: Xero Advisor Certification is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience: Prior internship or bookkeeping experience is an advantage.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Home Office Setup: A professional, distraction-free home office with reliable high-speed internet, computer, webcam, and headset.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Effective English communication and collaboration skills.
  • Work Ethic: Well-organised, dependable, able to thrive in fast paced environment.
  • Software Proficiency: Xero, MS Teams, MS Office 365, Hubdoc, SharePoint Google Drive and Dropbox. Experience with A2X, Stripe, Amazon, WooCommerce and Shopify is a bonus.
