Job description

This is a remote position.

Role: Take off Estimator

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with flexible hours and timezone, including a 1-hour unpaid break each day.

Job Overview:

As a Take Off Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our sales team by accurately assessing project requirements and providing detailed cost estimates for insulation and heating/cooling equipment installations. You will collaborate closely with sales representatives, project managers, and clients to ensure that proposed solutions meet both technical and budgetary specifications. You will receive plans for residential and commercial builds in the BC area. With your knowledge of the current BC step code and specific area codes, you will be able to produce accurate HVAC and insulation take offs and quotes using our custom software.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Assessment: Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and client requirements to determine the scope of work and materials needed for insulation and heating/cooling installations.

Material Quantification: Utilize takeoff software and manual methods to quantify materials such as insulation, ductwork, HVAC equipment, and other related components necessary for each project.

Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates using our custom quoting software.

Collaboration: Work closely with the sales team and other estimators to review project requirements, address client inquiries, and develop competitive proposals that align with client needs and budget constraints.

Documentation: Maintain organized records of project estimates, change orders, and related documentation to ensure transparency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, building codes, energy efficiency standards, and emerging technologies to enhance estimating methodologies, optimize project outcomes, and drive operational excellence.

Qualifications:

Technical Expertise: Proficient knowledge of insulation materials, HVAC systems, and construction methods related to energy efficiency projects.

Estimating Skills: Demonstrated experience in takeoff estimation, quantity surveying, and cost analysis within the construction or energy services industry.

Software Proficiency: Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, Wrightsoft) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and spreadsheet management.

Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in project assessments and cost estimates.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders.

Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in estimating, project management, or HVAC industry is advantageous.
