Inpatient / Outpatient Coding Educator

Work hours: Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 am to 4:30 pm but some flexibility on hours

Here’s What You Need
Education
Bachelor's Degree Health Information Management or other related field
REQUIRED or
Associate's Degree Health Information Management or other related field
REQUIRED
Master's Degree Health Information Management or other related field preferred
Experience
3 Years Experience in acute hospital coding (inpatient, outpatient or combined)
REQUIRED and
2 Years Experience providing formal education in adult learning
REQUIRED
2 Years Electronic Health Record And Chart Experience Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator Upon Hire
REQUIRED or
RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician Upon Hire
REQUIRED or
CCS - Certified Coding Specialist Upon Hire REQUIRED Or
COC - Certified Outpatient Coder Upon Hire
REQUIRED or
CPC - Certified Professional Coder Upon Hire REQUIRED Or
CCS-P - Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based Upon Hire
REQUIRED or
Skills
Other CCDS, CDIP Upon Hire
REQUIRED
Advanced knowledge of coding guidelines, coding clinics and coding conventions. Advanced knowledge of ICD-10-CM, PCS and CPT.
Knowledge in APC and DRG methodologies and all regulatory/payor requirements as they relate to coding.
Excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
Proficient computer skills to include outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint
Ability to coordinate projects
Demonstrated competency in teaching/learning process.
