Responsibilities
- Full Cycle Month/Quarter/Year End Accounting close process, including journal entries, supporting workpapers, investment schedules, financial statement preparation and account reconciliations for various employee benefit programs.
- External auditor requests and supporting documentation for annual financial and benefit plan audits.
- Assist with completion of workpapers and schedules for 990 tax filing and ERISA 5500 compliance reporting.
- Various Ad-Hoc analyses, flux, variance, and trend, including operating expenses.
- Treasury transaction processing for incoming premium collections and outgoing benefit claims.
- Review, maintenance and implementation of accounting policy and procedure documentation.
- Serves as liaison with HR/Benefits, Benefit Plan Administrators, Bank Trustee, Investment Management, Treasury, and other external professional service consultants.
Requirements
Education:
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- Non-profit, Trust, Investment Accounting, and Intercompany accounting experience preferred but not required.
- Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including US GAAP.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and research issues.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate accounting and financial information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Strong attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve accounting and treasury issues.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in large ERP accounting software (i.e., PeopleSoft, Oracle Financials) and expertise in MS Excel or Google Sheets.
