The Director of Major Gifts is responsible for interacting with multidisciplinary teams to manage market fundraising strategies. In this role, you will develop lasting relationships with both your fellow Cleveland Clinic professionals and external donors and prospects. You will also have numerous opportunities to further develop your skills through Cleveland Clinic’s extensive library of resources. A caregiver in this position works remotely, 8:00am—5:00pm.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Set vision and implementation strategies for the generation of philanthropic funds for Cleveland Clinic priorities. 

  • Promote collaboration between staff. 

  • Provide leadership for the effective and efficient operation of assigned responsibilities. 

  • Achieve significant dollar goals and lead the success of campaigns for capital, programmatic, research, endowment and operating support for Cleveland Clinic. 

  • Lead overall management of the area and supervises assigned employees. 

  • Establish a program of personal visits with past, current and prospective donors, as appropriate. 

  • Ensure donors are properly advised as to the financial options available, projects and needs and develop funding proposals. 

  • Act as leader accountable for complete transfer of funds, property, etc. to Cleveland Clinic. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree 

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills and the ability to manage a diverse central service team 

  • Can establish and maintain friendly and cooperative relations with individuals contacted during work 

  •  Seven years of experience in fundraising, with an emphasis on direct major gift solicitation in a campaign environment OR Experience in sales or other related field may offset total years of experience OR Master's Degree in nonprofit management, business, public administration and management or higher education management may offset some experience

  • Demonstrated success and experience in fund raising strategies for donor cultivation and direct solicitation 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with program evaluation, research quality assurance and grant application assessment to determine qualified internal awards Mastery of data driven decision-making to drive metrics and outcomes across global teams

  • Demonstrated success developing and executing strategies to secure transformational healthcare grants from national foundations

  • Experience within a large, international academic medical center

  • Experience working for or with large professionally staffed national foundations

  • Project management experience related to complex scientific and/or research initiatives for global projects

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.

    • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
