Summary: This position is responsible for the oversight and proactive direction of claims investigations including coverage, liability, reserving and settlement of Personal and Commercial Bodily Injury/Property Damage files in excess of $100,000, including files in litigation.  Additionally, you’ll be analyzing data, reporting on trends to Claims Leaders and internal stakeholders and assisting in quality reviews.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Technical supervision, oversight, analysis and reporting of complex casualty claims (over $100,000) which includes Personal and Commercial Lines cases, including litigated files.
  • Serve as a consultative technical advisor to our team of Casualty associates and managers.
  • Review and assist in preparing written reports on large casualty claims for Claims Authority Board (CAB).
  • Coordinate weekly CAB meetings and prepare summary report on cases.
  • Identify claims handling trends within large losses for associate development.
  • Assist the Casualty team in training claim personnel on the proper claims handling techniques in compliance with company casualty and legal strategies and guidelines. Participate in independent quality and other focused claim file reviews.
  • Display in-depth knowledge of complex Personal and Commercial Lines coverages, including litigation.
  • Attend/Assist in alternative dispute resolution activities, regional and legal roundtables and time limit demand meetings.
  • Oversee and manage the large loss predictive model program and assist leadership in continued evaluation of trends and results.
  • Oversee the Large Loss List and Watch List for Casualty and identify any trends that may need to be communicated to our business partners. Prepare regular reporting with trend analysis and insight to aid Claims Leaders and business partners in risk assessment. 
  • Attend and present at business partner meetings and other enterprise meetings as needed.

What You’ll Bring To The Company:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience plus ten (10) years related claims experience in both Personal and Commercial lines bodily injury and third-party property damages, preferred.  At least five (5) of the years’ experience handling or managing large loss (>100k) Commercial Lines liability claims or equivalent experience.  Construction defect claim experience is preferred, as is proficiency with industry CGL, CA, BOP/CT and Commercial Umbrella forms.  Professional insurance designation preferred.  Should have strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, a thorough understanding of claims handling, investigative techniques, loss evaluations, negotiations and settlement solutions.  We’re looking for a candidate with strong critical thinking skills, a consultative leadership style and continuous improvement mindset.  Experience with PC's, and word processing, spreadsheet including use of pivot tables, and presentations software helpful.  Must be available to travel as needed.  State specific adjusters’ license may be required.
