JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for independently leading and coordinating monthly close activities for the Orthopedics Group and all related businesses while maintaining balance sheet integrity. This role leads a diverse team responsible for accounting operations and related reporting. In addition, the role has primary responsibility for leading inventory accounting, accounts payable , accounts receivable, payroll accounting, treasury, month-end close to report, and internal controls testing (SOX) functions. This role is an integral component of the Controllership leadership team that partners with and serves customers in areas such as financial reporting, planning, treasury, tax, sales, marketing, operations and other functions. The role is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely issuance of financial statements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages a high-performing team, ensuring critical deadlines are met while providing ongoing training, coaching and guidance
- Leads team in the generation of a timely and accurate month end close, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, reserves, roll-forwards and other analysis
- Responsible for maintaining an effective internal control structure along with compliance with SOX, US GAAP and Henry Schein accounting guidance
- Liaise with finance leaders to provide an efficient and effective inventory accounting function in accordance with Henry Schein policy and procedures
- Maintains compliance with all Treasury guidelines and collaborates with Henry Schein partners on foreign exchange related initiatives
- Subject matter expert on ERP system for all areas under his/her responsibility
- Oversees all internal and external audit engagements
- Guides accounts payable team, delivering excellent customer service while supporting multiple businesses. Responsible for approving new vendor setups and releasing electronic payments.
- Assists business FP&A leads as they develop variance analysis explanations (actual vs. target) and open period forecast assumptions (ROs)
- Coordinates policy compliance across multiple functional areas
- Drives continuous improvement in reporting and analytical processes to drive productivity and efficiency
- Leverages experience and knowledge of the business to collaborate with finance business partners and other key team members, adding value and solving challenges as they arise.
- Manage special projects by collaborating with other teams
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Strong accounting and financial knowledge including reporting, policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls and SOX
- Strong commitment to financial accuracy and data integrity is required
- BS in Finance or Accounting required, CPA preferred
- Independent worker, self-starter
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, proficient with QuickBooks, NetSuite and other ERP systems
- Strong ability to understand and communicate complex financial concept

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 10 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience; 3 or more years of management experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor's Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master's degree or global equivalent a plus.
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel initially at 50%+. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
The posted range for this position is $124,448-$171,116 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
This position is eligible for a bonus not reflected in the posted range.
