Job Description
The National Sales Manager - Poultry, will lead and grow Tosca's poultry supply chain. In this role, you will set strategy, manage, and direct all efforts downstream into grocery retail and upstream between and within processing plants. The ideal candidate must have experience in the poultry space, a solid commercial background ‐ including experience selling into retail, sales and marketing experience, supply chain experience, leadership ability, and a desire to sell emerging products and services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive and manage profitable growth for Tosca in the poultry supply chain.
- Lead the Tosca poultry sales team in North America, which includes establishing and executing strategy, growth initiatives, managing relationships with current and prospective processor-customers, and managing the budget.
- Develop and drive retail market strategy (i.e., downstream) in North America.
- Develop and drive upstream (i.e., plant-to-plant) market strategy to drive RPC, bin, and pallet growth opportunities.
- Initiate meetings with prospective retailers and strengthen relationships with existing Tosca RPC retailers.
- Identify new retail opportunities, secure trials, and close new profitable opportunities.
- When selling into retail, drive engagement with crucial retail cross-functional teams, including supply chain, logistics, warehousing, sustainability, technology, and procurement.
- Maintain a viable pipeline of downstream and upstream sales opportunities.
- Help uncover, develop, and drive new packaging solutions in existing and new supply chains.
- The successful candidate must be organized, professional, assertive, able to manage people, and able to manage multiple supply chains and accounts.
- This position will work with management to develop strategies to drive RPC conversions at the retail level and create new solutions for retail.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum of 10 years of poultry supply chain or retail sales experience.
- Retail/Perishable/Packaging experience preferred.
- Business-to-business sales experience.
- Working in a demanding corporate setting requires high energy, entrepreneurship, and comfort.
- A high level of humility and comfort with the challenge process is required.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Must be able to work independently, be organized, be proficient in time management, and have demonstrated knowledge in opening accounts and closing sales.
- Ability to lead sales efforts by:
- Managing a team
- Managing a budget
- Sales and marketing strategy development
- Personally conduct high‐value sales: must be able to open, develop, and close a relationship.
- Ability to conduct market research – including supply/demand/industry structure analysis – to develop market Point of View
- Ability to complete supply chain analyses – complete side-by-side cost comparisons of different packaging types throughout the supply chain to identify cost differentials and areas of opportunity.
- Identify opportunities to grow returns and bottom-line based on current capabilities.
- Understand price/volume trade-offs and overall profit maximization.
- Must be willing to travel with overnight stays.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be an active learner.
Work Schedule
Location: Remote (U.S. – open to candidates located anywhere in the United States)
Travel Requirement: This is a travel-heavy position, with up to 60% travel expected.
