Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the Agglayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the Agglayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon Miden, which is in development as well as Polygon CDK.
Decentralized technologies first emerged as radical alternatives to fundamental human systems. Finance, identity, and computation could suddenly be transacted without intermediaries—unlocking new possibilities for democratic ownership and individual control in global digital networks.
Over time, a decade of volatile boom-and-bust cycles diverted focus. Complex systems were often misunderstood as solvable by simple software, leading major projects to become misaligned, co-opted, or inadvertently shaped by economic self-interest. As growth slowed and bad actors proliferated, many protocols abandoned vision in favor of value, struggling for survival.
Today, we stand on the edge of a new shift: resilient, battle-tested projects have emerged from the web3 turbulence, equipped with experienced technologists and blockchain stacks that are faster, more secure, and more cost-effective than ever before.
Your job is to help ensure we remain true to our original mission—delivering a robust "decentralization layer" that matches the transformative potential of Polygon Labs' vision and technology.
You will be embedded as a founding member of the revamped Polygon Governance team, helping to develop the key ideas, tools, and policies that guide the Polygon ecosystem and support the rollout of future technologies. In this role, you will work in a highly collaborative environment reporting directly to the CEO. With access to leading blockchain experts and opportunities to travel globally for industry events, you will have the freedom to explore new ideas, redefine decentralization and community ownership, and experiment with emerging models of digital governance.
The Governance Program Manager is a strategic generalist—curious, adaptable, and motivated by complex, interdisciplinary challenges.

5+ years in a high-impact, cross-functional role with a proven record of leadership and achievement
Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and strong written English
Experience managing projects or operations with an ownership mindset and strong attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to drive alignment in multi-stakeholder environments by identifying tradeoffs and managing evolving priorities
Comfort working with technical teams and translating complex concepts into accessible content
Deep experience with decentralized governance models and blockchain ecosystems, including direct involvement in designing or managing governance processes
Familiarity with corporate governance, public policy, economics, systems thinking, or network design
Graduate degree in social science, business administration, network science, or computer science
Non-traditional professional background with a track record of success in startups, emerging technologies, or transitioning across industries and roles
