The salary range for this position is $ 90,000 - $100,000 . This position is based remotely.

Job Description

Responsible for day-to-day preparation and analysis of corporate accounting entries, reconciliations, reports and statements Coordination of pertinent information for third party audits and contribution to Financial reporting to integrate newly acquired business and process improvements, including execution of controls over financial reporting. An opportunity to significantly contribute to the integration of a new ERP system and design of a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant controls environment Other activities include collaborating with the Financial Planning and Analysis team, assisting with the timely filing of Federal, State & Local Tax returns and other Compliance reporting. May oversee the work products of junior-level staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and post month-end close accounting entries, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, including inventory, fixed assets, intangible assets, depreciation and amortization, accruals, payroll, capitalized software, stock-based compensation, etc. and adhering to the company’s close timeline
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files, including balance sheet reconciliations, in accordance with the company’s accounting policies and processes.
  • Analyze actual results against budgets and communicate key drivers of period-over-period variances to various stakeholders including accounting leadership and finance teams.
  • Prepare and review recurring and ad-hoc financial reporting for use by leadership.
  • Prepare and review year-end accounting disclosures.
  • Prepare documents for audits.
  • Work diligently with other stakeholders, both internal and external, including finance, operations, supply chain, tax, etc. to understand business practices, understand potential impact for accounting, and to provide support across all business functions as it relates to financial reporting and analysis.
  • Support with integration of newly acquired business, including identifying and driving areas for accounting process improvements and synergies with the legacy business.
  • Assist with tax filing functions, including preparing/gathering the information provided to outside tax accountants and lawyers for income tax, preparing Federal, State, and Local property tax, excise tax, business license returns and other Compliance reports and returns.
  • Significantly contribute to the implementation of a new ERP system by participating in use case scenario testing within subledger/ledger modules and assisting with the design of new accounting processes with the framework of the new ERP system in mind.
  • Support the Assistant Corporate Controller in designing, executing and monitoring controls sufficient for a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant environment.
  • Work closely with facility Accounting teams to provide guidance on Company accounting policies, processes and controls.

Qualifications

Skills and Requirements

  • 3+ years of similar experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting, either within public accounting or industry accounting. 
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. (GAAP)
  • Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft computer applications.
  • Able to interpret and apply technical accounting guidance with SEC reporting experience.
  • ERP System implementation a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong partnering/teaming skills and the ability to resolve challenges collectively in a diplomatic manner.
  • Positive outlook and eagerness to learn and assume additional responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidentiality and integrity.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent.
  • CPA licensed required.
  • Experience in the food or manufacturing industry, or with inventory/cost accounting is a plus.
  • Experience with business combination accounting is a plus.

Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location.  We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
