Job description

Overview:

Ardent Eagle Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Specialist with experience in government contracting. This role is primarily focused on executing daily accounting tasks with accuracy, timeliness, and compliance in a DCAA-compliant environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for billing, payroll processing, expense reporting, and maintaining financial records while ensuring all transactions are completed efficiently and in accordance with company policies and government regulations.

Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow established processes, and a commitment to meeting deadlines. The individual will work independently on assigned tasks while maintaining a collaborative and professional relationship with management.

Background:

Reporting directly to a Senior Accountant (Lead), this role offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing company while developing professionally. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, takes direction well, and executes tasks with a high degree of accuracy. Given the structured nature of this role, we are looking for someone who is independent, efficient, and comfortable working with minimal supervision while maintaining a strong working relationship with management.

Work Environment & Schedule:

At Ardent Eagle Solutions, we foster a collaborative and team-oriented culture where in-person interaction plays a key role in our success. This is a hybrid position requiring in-office attendance three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday during regular business hours). While we recognize that some professionals prefer fully remote roles, we believe that a balance of in-person and remote work enhances teamwork, communication, and professional growth - while maintaining work-life balance.

Our team thrives in an environment where accountability, collaboration, and shared success are valued. As such, this position is designed for a hybrid structure, and additional remote flexibility is not available. We appreciate candidates who enjoy being part of a supportive, engaged workplace and are comfortable working within our established schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Process and coordinate daily activities in client billing and Accounts Receivable in accordance with contract terms.
  • Prepare Accounts Payable transactions, including vendor ACH payments, ensuring validation before posting.
  • Collect and reconcile electronic timesheets, communicating with PMs and others regarding missing or incorrect submissions.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll using a third-party payroll provider.
  • Review and process employee expense reports to ensure timely reimbursements.
  • Assist with annual W-2 and 1099 reporting.
  • Maintain accounting records and audit documentation, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Participate as needed in special department projects.
  • Foster a success-oriented and accountable work environment.
Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years' experience working for a small to mid-sized federal government contractor preferred.

  • Experience working daily within a DCAA-compliant ERP system.
  • Experience with Deltek Time & Expense and Costpoint preferred.
  • Experience with payroll and third-party processing systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, sound business judgment, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check, including criminal, credit, and other screenings as required by company policy and contractual obligations.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required, or a combination of experience.

Benefits and EEO:

At Ardent Eagle Solutions, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to our employees and their families:

  • Medical/Dental/Vision Coverage
  • Matching 401(k) Plan
  • Continuing Education Assistance
  • Paid Time Off
