As a Product Manager you will lead delivery teams of engineers and work directly with customers to build complex custom software applications. Our client will look to you to chart out the approach that will get them results. You will be responsible for conducting research activities, participating in reviews, prioritizing development work, leading backlog refinement, iteration planning, demos & release planning.

This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere. When the environment permits, you may be expected to travel occasionally.

 
Responsibilities

PRODUCT OWNERSHIP

  • Lead and inspire cross-functional delivery teams to ensure the successful development and implementation of complex software solutions.
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to gather insights and requirements, shaping the strategic product approach for optimal results.
  • Guide product strategy by collecting research, understanding the product’s target audience, and defining business goals to be pursued with the product’s implementation.
  • Own, prioritize and maintain the Product Roadmap for successful delivery.
  • Collect user feedback on released product versions to assess product effectiveness and incorporate said feedback into the product backlog when necessary.
  • Contribute to our Product Management practice and culture, both in how we work and learning from one another.

DELIVERY TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Fully embedded in and owning a delivery team.
  • Define key milestones and own all project management activities.
  • Partner with engineering to oversee the delivery of each project milestone.
  • Break down user requirements into epics and user stories for the development team to work on.
  • Lead backlog refinement, iteration planning, product demos, and any other ceremony related to ensuring the team is adding value to the product at every planned iteration.
  • Ensure your product is delivered with high quality standards.
  • Lead all agile ceremonies for the delivery team.
  • Eliminate external and internal project blockers.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment with engineering.
  • Develop newly forming teams into high-performing teams through continuous feedback, retrospectives and improving how we work together.

CONSULTING

  • Build strong relationships and trust with our clients.
  • Partner with our clients to understand their needs and uncover the scope of work.
  • Make recommendations for improvements and present to clients.
  • Foster alignment on our mission amongst all client stakeholders.
  • Identify and communicate risks with internal leadership.
  • Continuously educate clients on how we work and why it works.
  • Anticipate questions and objections and get ahead of them.
  • Provide rigorous ROI analysis to our client to ensure they are building the right product, while balancing both the user and business needs.
 
Must Have Skills
  • 4+ years of professional experience as an individual contributor on software development projects.
  • Experience managing the end to end software product lifecycle.
  • Can quickly ramp up on a new business domain.
  • Must be able to lead discovery sessions in which prioritization and requirements elicitation workshops are conducted.
  • We’re looking for someone who is a goal-oriented, autonomous and organized person, who likes teamwork but also who can work independently to obtain the information needed to perform product management responsibilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of credibility with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to pitch and articulate value to different audiences
  • Experience using agile development methodologies with globally-distributed teams.
  • Experience with requirements management tools is required (Jira preferably).

 

 Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Previous consulting experience is highly desirable.
  • Agile processes certification (Scrum Master or Product Owner) are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, technical concepts, and APIs is a plus.
  • Experience creating and making changes to wireframes is a plus.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is desirable.

 

Location / Time Zone Constraints

  • This position requires the Product Manager to be available to work in the Pacific time zone.
