We're making Africa the first cashless continent.

In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason—the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across six countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it

Wave is now the largest financial institution in Senegal, with over 7 million users, and, we’re still in the early days of our product roadmap and potential impact on people’s everyday lives.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Wave’s growing talent team and make a real impact in shaping our technical hiring strategy.

As a Senior Technical Recruiter, you will play a key role in attracting and hiring top technical talent across Engineering, Product, Data and Design while contributing to a mission-driven company that is scaling organically. You’ll collaborate with hiring managers and senior stakeholders to develop and execute hiring strategies that build high-performing teams.

In this role, you'll;

  • Own the full-cycle recruiting process of sourcing, screening, interviewing, and closing candidates for a variety of technical roles.
  • Develop creative sourcing strategies to build strong pipelines of technical talent through online channels, networking, and events.
  • Partner with hiring managers, including senior leadership, to deeply understand their team's needs, and act as a trusted advisor on hiring strategies and best practices.
  • Ensure an exceptional candidate experience by staying on top of communication, throughout the hiring process.
  • Conduct thorough interviews to assess technical skills, cultural alignment and long-term fit.
  • Track and analyze key recruiting metrics (e.g. conversion rates, passthrough rates, time-to-hire, offer acceptance rates) to optimize hiring processes.
  • Maintain clean, consistent, and accurate data in our ATS (Greenhouse).
  • Drive diversity hiring initiatives, ensuring fair and inclusive hiring practices.
  • Support interviewer training, hiring process improvements, and documentation.
Key details
  • You can work remotely from anywhere (between UTC -1 and +3) with reliable internet access.
  • You’re willing to travel to one of our key markets once per year for ~6 days (Wave covers all costs). We also provide a yearly stipend of $1,200 to meet with coworkers.
  • We run performance reviews twice a year and award bonuses or promotions to strong performers who have been with the company for more than six months.
  • Major benefits:

Requirements
  • 6+ years experience owning recruiting processes end-to-end. 
  • Minimum of 4 years recruiting experience in engineering, product, data, and design focused hiring.
  • Solid stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience partnering closely with senior leaders and hiring managers.
  • Analytical mindset and familiarity in using metrics and data to inform hiring strategies.
  • Experience negotiating complex offers, and closing candidates.
  • Proficiency in modern Applicant Tracking Systems (preferably Greenhouse) like Ashby, or Lever.
