Job Summary: The Assistant Manager - Accounting Services will support the senior management team in overseeing financial reporting, preparing financial statements, managing month-end processes, and providing technical accounting expertise. This role involves both hands-on accounting work and leadership responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Statement Preparation:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (IFRS, UK GAAP, etc.).
Assist with the preparation of management accounts and ensure they align with client expectations. Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management and clients.
Month-End And Year-End Close Processes
Oversee and ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
Monitor reconciliation of accounts, identify discrepancies, and implement solutions.
Technical Accounting Support
Provide technical accounting support, especially regarding complex financial reporting issues.
Assist in the interpretation and application of accounting standards and new regulations.
Prepare reports on technical accounting matters and assist with new standard implementation.
Team Supervision And Development
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.
Provide training and guidance on technical accounting matters and internal procedures.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment. Client Interaction:
Maintain strong client relationships by providing timely and accurate financial reports and advice.
Address client queries, provide recommendations, and support clients with accounting-related issues.
Ad-Hoc
Reporting And Analysis
Prepare ad-hoc financial reports, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections as required.
Assist in the development of financial models and perform variance analysis.
Compliance And Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures.
Assist in auditing and ensure financial records adhere to regulations and standards.
Required Knowledge And Experience
Pursuing or completed a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ICAEW, CA, or equivalent).
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in accounting or audit, ideally in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP or other applicable accounting standards.
Proven experience with financial reporting, month-end close, and account reconciliations.
Advanced Excel skills for financial modelling, reporting, and analysis.
Experience with Financial Services (Preferred):
Experience in the financial services sector or a similar fast-paced environment is an advantage.
