Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned medical writer take the lead on several rare disease medical affairs accounts. If you’re confident in your ability to provide scientific and creative expertise on a range of medical communication projects, as well as to establish a dynamic partnership with your clients, this role could be a good fit for you.


The role

This role is perfect for someone who blends scientific expertise with strategic vision, thrives on client engagement and values collaboration. You’ll contribute to a variety of projects, playing a key role in advancing the rare disease landscape. You’ll have the flexibility to work from any of our UK offices or completely remotely from anywhere in the UK or Ireland.


Key responsibilities

  • Scientific leadership of several rare disease accounts in AMICULUM for which we provide support to medical affairs clients
  • Working closely with the account lead to strengthen and grow our business with these clients
  • Providing clients with a high level of scientific, strategic and creative expertise on medical communications projects, including standalone events, symposia, slide sets, publications, infographics and digital resources
  • International travel to provide on-site support for client events (majority held in Europe)
  • Establishing and building positive long-term relationships with client teams and medical experts
  • Building collaborative partnerships across all internal teams
  • Mentoring and training editorial team members
  • Supporting business development activities through relationship building and the organic growth of accounts


What you’ll need

  • Extensive client services experience in a healthcare communications agency, focusing on medical affairs
  • Strong life sciences background with the ability to lead account teams and provide strategic direction
  • Confident verbal communication and a strategic mindset to support clients and drive business growth
  • Experience reviewing the work of junior team members and contributing to client brand-planning discussions
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
  • Proven ability to build client relationships while mentoring junior colleagues
  • Willingness to travel
  • Experience in rare diseases and omnichannel is a plus
