Job Description:

 

The Business Analyst will contribute to the planning, design, development, and launching efficient of business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements.

 

This role requires an intermediate understanding of insurance workflows and systems. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, have a service mentality, and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

 

The Business Analyst is a member of the Surplus & Specialty Lines (SSL) Digital Services team, supporting the Underwriting, Claims and Billing & Collections business units. SSL underwrites both admitted and non-admitted business for General Liability, Auto, and Excess/Umbrella lines of business across multiple industry verticals, including Contracting, Transportation, Energy, Security, and Environmental.

What you will do:

Strategy & Planning

  • Participate in meetings with business unit leadership, systems owners, and end users to define system requirements, and identify existing issues.
  • Participate in meetings with business and IT Stakeholders in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.
  • Participate in design sessions to prototype new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Participate in roadmap planning based on the defined goals, objectives and priorities of the assigned business units.
  • Adheres to scope, and parameters of systems analysis in order to define predictable outcomes and action plans.
  • Conduct analysis to make recommendations, or suggest alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems and processes across the organization.

Execution & Delivery

  • Adhere to established project timeline for delivery of project milestones, and communication plan for reporting project status.
  • Provide systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to development teams, as required.
  • Identify cause for issues based on the findings, complete with probable causes and possible solutions.
  • Collaborate with Digital Service teams to ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
  • Coordinate testing of application systems, including end-user acceptance, and quality assurance reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support.
  • Provide documentation, training materials, orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems, as needed.
What you will bring to C&F:
  • Bachelor degree, and 3-5+ years relevant experiences working in a Business Analysis capacity
  • Experience in the design, development, and implementation of software solutions, systems, or products in support of underwriting, financial or claims application systems.
  • Understanding of P&C Insurance domain, preferably Commercial Lines or Specialty Insurance
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment on Agile projects.
  • Logical, efficient, with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Ability to adhere to established priorities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Good analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $71,600 to a maximum of $95,400. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
