**This position is eligible to work remotely from anywhere in the United States **

Maintains a profitable and growing book of business for accounts that are complex, cover multiple operations, or large property. Builds relationships with agents. Communicates with other departments to coordinate information and services.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews information to evaluate new and renewal submissions for large and complex accounts
  • Evaluates alternative rating methods and ensures that risks have proper coverages, appropriate premiums and are acceptable under selection standards
  • Presents risk analysis for new accounts and makes recommendations to pursue, decline or obtain additional information
  • Negotiates terms and pricing of coverage with agents and brokers
  • Visits agents and brokers to solicit new business and retain existing business

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in insurance or business administration, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Four years of commercial lines underwriting experience
  • CPCU designation or other underwriting designations preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of underwriting techniques, terminology, policies, and forms
  • Sound underwriting judgment and decision-making skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups
  • Occasional travel required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if traveling

The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $77,000-$106,000 range or the $84,000-$117,000 range. A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range.  The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
