Job description

AnitaB.org is not just a resource; we are a movement. By creating a platform of options, we foster freedom—the freedom to choose, to grow, and to lead the charge in transforming technology into a more inclusive, equitable space for all.

We envision a future where the people who imagine and build technology mirror the people and societies for whom they build it. Our social enterprise supports women technologists in technical fields, the organizations that employ them, and the academic institutions training the next generation. AnitaB.org is known for our various programs connecting, guiding and inspiring women in tech and Grace Hopper Celebration, the largest global annual gathering of women in technology.

The Marketing Manager is a key leader within the marketing and communications department, responsible for developing, executing, and evaluating the marketing strategies of AnitaB.org. This role will lead efforts to expand our global reach, increase brand awareness, and elevate storytelling and narrative strategy.

This person will oversee social media campaigns, digital assets, website management, and content strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic goals. This position will manage a team of marketing professionals, including the Social Media Coordinator, Creative Designer, and Data Scientist, as well as external consultants and agency partners and will report to the Vice President, Marketing and Communications.

Here's what you'll do
  • Develop and execute best-in-class marketing strategies and plans to reach new audiences through promotional and advertising strategies, with clear, measurable objectives and associated metrics.
  • Oversee the execution of marketing initiatives that elevate the programs, events, services, and priorities of AnitaB.org across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Define marketing objectives that align with the organization’s strategic goals, leveraging data analytics and research to drive decision-making.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional staff to identify internal and external marketing opportunities and execute impactful campaigns.
  • Lead digital marketing efforts, ensuring effective use of technology to achieve marketing objectives, including social media, email marketing, and website optimization.
  • Oversee the development, content updates, and creative design of our websites, including AnitaB.org, Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), and Tech Collaborative platforms.
  • Manage and mentor a team, including full-time employees, consultants, partner agencies, freelance designers, and production vendors.
  • Monitor staff performance, develop growth plans, set goals and priorities, and conduct annual performance evaluations.
  • Lead marketing data analytics and consumer research efforts, implementing test strategies to measure audience engagement and ROI.
  • Ensure marketing efforts support diversity, inclusion, and equity principles while maintaining organizational values of respect, transparency, and collaboration.
  • Advance the desire of AnitaB.org for greater inclusivity, seeking opportunities to improve target audience relevance of marketing and communications.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned, which means to be agile and rise to the challenge: in service to our mission, from time to time, we do ask team members to take on, or volunteer to take on, additional or different duties outside of their formal job description.
Here's what we hope you'll bring
  • Professionalism in team and external stakeholder interactions and communications, including honesty, integrity, respect.
  • A minimum of 10 years of marketing experience, with at least 5 years leading the development, growth & execution of successful, comprehensive communications and outreach strategies.
