Reporting to the VP Operations, the Director of Revenue Cycle is responsible for providing oversight of all revenue cycle operations. This position will oversee and direct all revenue cycle activities, initiatives, and strategies across the organization and be responsible for ensuring optimal financial outcomes within their domain. In partnership with the VP Operations and other functions—in particular, Finance, Clinical, and R&D—the Director of Revenue Cycle Management will develop, promote, and enforce effective operating policies and procedures and continually seek mechanisms to streamline and automate processes. They will continuously monitor department KPIs and accounts for key risks and improvement opportunities and develop and drive forward recommended actions to address them. The ideal candidate for this role is equal parts strategic thinker, data-driven operator, and gritty doer who is not above getting into the field with their team to get the work done. Comfort within a high-paced, start-up environment is a must.  

 

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Essential Functions: 

    •  Develop, implement, and continuously evolve policies and procedures related to all aspects of the revenue cycle process, including those related to value-based reimbursement models, patient billing and collections, and client invoicing. 

    •  Monitor and drive consistent data collection and reporting across revenue management systems 

    •  Utilize department metrics and deeper analyses to drive continuous improvement efforts, providing regular updates to leadership to ensure prompt attention to areas of concern 

    •  Work with the finance team to ensure the alignment of revenue recognition and the reserving or oversight of bad debt and write-offs 

    •  Analyze accounts receivable and collection data, trend issues, and create and drive to completion action plans to address 

    •  Collaborate effectively within department and with other Vori Health functions to ensure revenue cycle management and other enterprise priorities are understood and executed in a timely manner 

    •  Where applicable, develop and maintain external professional relationships with payers, professional associations, regulatory agencies, and other healthcare organizations to monitor and influence 

    •  Be a change agent capable of guiding organizational leaders in initiating various change management initiatives with the view of leading and guiding the organization toward the future revenue cycle model 

    •  Management Responsibilities: 

    •  In partnership with VP Operations, define, communicate, and hold team accountable to department goals and performance via KPIs 

    •  Provide direction and guidance that fosters a high-performing team environment through training, managing metrics and development 

    •  Oversee both internal employees and external vendors to ensure each subfunction is consistently performing daily duties in a timely, effective manner 

    •  Recruit, interview, hire, and train new team members 

    •  Provide constructive and timely performance feedback and evaluations 

    •  Perform other projects and duties as assigned  

 

Who You Are: 

  • Required:  

    •  8+ years of work experience in revenue cycle management, preferably including experience in a start-up environment 

    •  5+ years of people management experience 

    •  Confidence when navigating data in various tools, including BI dashboards and excel 

    •  Expert-level knowledge of end-to-end revenue cycle management workflows and tooling, including demonstrated experience managing non-FFS reimbursement streams 

    •  A strong track record of driving optimal results or measurable improvements in RCM KPIs such as net days sales outstanding, AR aging, cash collections as a percentage of net patient revenue, denial rates and favorable customer service scores 

    •  Strong financial management skills, including the ability to financially analyze data for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, AR analysis and staffing analysis 

    •  Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and general third-party payer - billing and follow-up practices 

    •  Proven ability to motivate, manage, coach and mentor both supervisory and staff-level team, members 

    •  Superior judgment, negotiation, and decision-making skills 

    •  Ability to function well in a high-paced and resource constrained environment 

    •  Willingness to work alongside front-line staff to get work done 

    •  Strong communication skills in both written, and verbal/presentation 

    •  Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, management, or finance major 

  • Nice-to-Haves: 

    •  Direct experience managing RCM in the musculoskeletal and/or telemedicine space 

    •  Direct experience overseeing AR across a multi-state entity 

    •  Familiarity and/or certification in operational performance improvement and work management methodologies—e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, 

Work authorization/security clearance requirements: 
  • Authorized or able to provide required documents to work in United States.
