About the Role:
As a Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will own the end-to-end payroll process and benefits administration for our employees across the U.S. and Canada. In this role, you will ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll operations while delivering an exceptional employee experience.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and takes ownership of payroll processes. Success in this role requires critical thinking, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
Working closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors, you will ensure seamless payroll execution, maintain compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local regulations, and continuously improve payroll and benefits processes to scale with our business needs.
What You'll DoPayroll AdministrationProcess multi-location payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees, ensuring accuracy in wages, tax withholdings, and deductions.Maintain compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local payroll regulations, including timely payroll tax filings and year-end reporting (e.g., W-2s, T4s).Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries efficiently, ensuring a high level of customer service.Ensure data integrity by accurately processing employee changes (new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, benefit deductions, etc.).Partner with Finance to align payroll with financial reporting and reconciliations.Lead payroll audits and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Benefits AdministrationAdminister U.S. employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life, and disability plans.Support benefits enrollment, terminations, qualifying life events, and employee inquiries.Ensure regulatory compliance with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, IRS, and other governing bodies.Conduct benefits reconciliations and vendor billing audits to ensure accuracy.Act as the liaison with benefits providers to ensure smooth service delivery.
Operational Excellence & ComplianceStay up to date on payroll, benefits, and employment law changes in the U.S. and Canada, ensuring continuous compliance.Partner with HR Shared Services to optimize workflows and align payroll with employee changes in UKG.Drive process improvements in payroll and benefits administration to increase efficiency and scalability.Take full ownership of the payroll process, identifying and implementing best practices to improve accuracy, efficiency, and employee experience.What Makes You a Great Fit3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience in the U.S. and 1+ year in Canada, including multi-location payroll.2+ years of experience administering U.S. benefits, including enrollments, reconciliations, and compliance.Strong knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.Ability to think critically and identify payroll discrepancies or process inefficiencies before they become issues.Proven ownership mentality—you take initiative, drive projects forward, and ensure payroll processes run seamlessly.Strong communication skills—you can clearly explain complex payroll and benefits topics to employees and stakeholders.Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Experience administering Canadian benefits.Experience with UKG Core and Workforce Management modules.Strong analytical skills and experience improving payroll processes through automation or continuous improvement initiatives.Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, proactively solve problems, and scale processes in a growing company.Pay Transparency:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $83,000-$95,000 per year. The final offer will depend on several factors, including the successful candidate’s skills, depth of work experience, location, and relevant licenses/ qualifications. Each offer is determined based on individual strengths and relevant business considerations.
In addition to the base salary, certain roles may qualify for a performance-based incentive and/or equity, with eligibility depending on the position. These rewards are based on a combination of company performance and individual achievements.
