Job Description:
The Mechanical Designer II will be responsible for supporting
and executing the design and development of mechanical systems and components.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and leadership
skills. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including
engineering and design from multiple disciplines, to deliver high-quality
solutions.
This
client-facing role requires the employee to function as a consultant to clients
on an ongoing basis. They are expected to have extensive industry knowledge and
are expected to lead in research and help develop solutions for clients. It is
expected that this person will travel to client facilities as needed to support
project pre-bid walks, pre-design field work, and post-design construction
support as requested.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with
the design and development of mechanical piping systems, from concept
through design delivery.
- Collaborate
with engineers and client stakeholders to define design requirements and
project scope.
- Utilize CAD
software (such as Plant3D and AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models,
engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Perform
engineering analysis and simulations to ensure designs meet performance,
reliability, and safety standards.
- Conduct design
reviews and provide technical guidance to junior designers and engineers.
- Ensure designs
are constructible and cost-effective, coordinating with engineers and
contractor teams to address any installation/fabrication challenges.
- Stay current
with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation
and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s
degree in mechanical design or a related field. Bachelor’s degree is a
plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design,
with a proven track record of successful projects.
- Experience in industrial
piping systems design, pipe fitting, and/or steel fabrication.
- Expertise in
CAD software (Plant3d, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks) and other
design tools.
- Ability to
develop pipe specifications in Plant3D for inclusion in piping systems
design development.
- Strong
understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and
manufacturing processes.
- Strong
understanding of piping, valves, and fittings is a requirement
- Ability to read
and interpret P&IDs and PFDs and convert them into 3D piping designs
- Excellent
problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and
analytically.
- Demonstrated
leadership abilities, with experience leading design projects and
mentoring team members.
- Communication
skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively
collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of
industry standards and regulations related to mechanical design and
product development.
- Gathering and
analyzing measurement data from the field.
- Ability to work
independently in a team‐based
environment and produce quality drawings and models in a timely manner.
- Ability to read
blueprints, interpret customer drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in
Bluebeam.
- Ability to work
in a remote setting while maintaining focus on tasks and assignments;
Ability to interpret project deliverables and prioritize activities to
ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Ability to
interact effectively in a multidiscipline team setting.
- Ability to meet
tight deadlines and maintain quality work while under pressure.
- High level of
conscientiousness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work
alone or within groups as necessary.
- Ability to
perform field work.
- Excellent
written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrate a
strong work ethic.
- Hands-on
mechanical aptitude, and a passion for problem solving.
- Ability to pass
a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of
project management principles and tools.
- Familiarity
with advanced manufacturing techniques and materials.
- Understanding
of the value and importance of QA/QC for design verification.
Working Conditions
· This position
routinely operates as a remote role in a home office environment with
occasional travel to meetings with GWC leadership and client sites.
· Hours of work are
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.

Compensation:
$100K - $135K - This is a comp range estimate, and actual offer will be commensurate with skills and experience.
