Role Summary:

As an Engineering Manager at Novatech, you will lead a dynamic engineering team and know what good engineering practices looks like, guiding them through various projects and ensuring that our engineering efforts align seamlessly with our organizational goals. This role requires a leader who is adept at fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance. You will be responsible for resource management, strategic planning, and maintaining high standards of code quality while nurturing the professional growth of your team members.

Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Oversee one or more engineering teams, fostering a cohesive and productive work environment and promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
  • Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, considering the skills and strengths of team members to optimize productivity and ensure a balanced workload.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of engineering strategies that align with the broader business objectives and collaborate with other departments to integrate these efforts, demonstrating that the team is delivering business value sprint over sprint.
  • Recruitment and Team Development: Drive the recruitment and onboarding of new talent, and support the career development of team members through mentorship and training opportunities.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Ensure effective communication within the engineering team and with other departments, facilitating a smooth workflow and collaboration across the company.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support team members with personalized development plans.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks within the engineering operations, ensuring the team is prepared to handle challenges and adapt to changes.
  • Technical Direction: Lead the technical direction of the team, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Code Quality Standards: Uphold high coding standards by promoting and enforcing best practices within the team.
  • Coaching and Feedback: Provide ongoing coaching and one-on-one feedback to enhance the skills and professional development of individual team members.
  • Team Meetings: Facilitate effective team meetings that drive collaboration, communication, and progress toward organizational goals.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the tech industry, with a proven track record in software development and team leadership.
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and developing engineering teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of engineering practices, including agile methodologies and code quality standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Superior communication skills, with fluency in English and the capability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in risk management and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with current industry trends and technologies, with a continuous learning mindset.
