How you Will Contribute
The Director, Business Development will strategically position and sell our full suite of Medical Affairs and medical/scientific communications solutions to key biopharmaceutical budget holders within Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access and R&D functional areas.

Responsibilities:
The Director, Business Development responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and setting meetings with key decision makers and influencers to identify, qualify, consult and close opportunities
- Proactively target new client accounts and new TA/asset opportunities within existing accounts
- Support expansion of accounts once opened (new and existing)
- Create and/or update Strategic Account Development Plans in partnership with other internal RN stakeholders
- Develop strong and strategic client relationships within target accounts, in conjunction with delivery teams
- Consult and collaborate with internal service delivery teams within our lines of business to craft appropriate solutions that meet the unique business requirements of identified opportunities
- Develop proposals, pitch presentations, and SOWs (where appropriate), as part of the sales process and cycle and in collaboration with delivery team partners
- Manage and track pipeline and opportunities via Red Nucleus’ opportunity management process, ensuring clean data and opportunity forecasting
- Lead pricing negotiations with clients, with BU/delivery team input to ensure all business sold meets profitability targets
- Ensure a seamless transition from the sales process to the delivery team. Follow procedures and methodologies through the sales cycle and hand-off to delivery
- Identify opportunities for other Red Nucleus business units to facilitate cross-selling
- Provide direction and input towards targeted Marketing initiatives including attendance at key industry conferences.
About You
- Minimum educational requirement: Bachelor's degree in the life sciences or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Prior experience with consistently achieving quotas in the range of $3M+
- 7-10 years (for Director) or 10+ years (for Senior Director) of proven and relevant experience specifically selling Medical Affairs and Medical/Scientific Communications Services and products to the biopharmaceutical industry, as outlined above
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to break into new accounts and new functional areas within existing accounts
- Demonstrated ability to develop and grow client relationships across functional areas and levels
- Ability to identify and develop (via consultative approach) large strategic relationships
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
- Understanding of the drug development process as it relates to timeliness of service offerings for targeting new accounts
- Understanding and ability to articulate key biopharmaceutical industry issues, trends, etc.
- Understanding of and/or ability to quickly assimilate into deep understanding of key TAs
- Excellent written and verbal communications
- Prior experience using a CRM tool for pipeline and opportunity tracking preferred
- Advanced skill level in MS suite of software: Excel; Word; PowerPoint; Outlook
