Hi there,

I’m Nicolas, the Head of Technology at TestGorilla. We’re a fast-growing HR tech company that helps teams make better hiring decisions, faster and bias-free. Every year, over 7 million candidates complete our assessments, helping companies make unbiased, data-driven hiring decisions.

As we scale our efforts in 2025 and beyond, we are seeking a Staff Engineer to drive technical excellence, enhance the developer experience, and enable the development of a reliable, scalable, and robust product.

The job in a nutshell

We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Engineer to join our team and take a leading role in shaping our engineering strategy, driving technical excellence, and enhancing the developer experience.

As a Staff Engineer, you will provide thought leadership in defining best practices, fostering innovation, and mentoring engineers to navigate complex technical challenges. Your contributions will ensure our platform remains aligned with our product strategy, business growth, and long-term strategic vision.

  

You’ll spend time on the following
  • Partnering with engineering and product leaders to align technical initiatives with long-term business objectives.
  • Identifying and executing key initiatives to improve system performance, scalability, and resilience.
  • Enhancing developer experience by improving tooling, workflows, and way of working.
  • Role model on quality and efficiency by actively contributing to codebases, driving best practices, and demonstrating excellence through hands-on work.
  • Providing coaching and mentorship to engineers, fostering technical excellence, ownership, and professional growth.
  • Supporting teams in making well-informed technical decisions by balancing trade-offs, risk, and business impact.
  • Leading architectural decisions to build a high-quality, maintainable, and extensible platform.
  • Driving proactive measures to minimize technical debt and ensure structured execution of platform initiatives.
  • Embedding AI technologies in our stack to enable new AI-driven capabilities in our product.

  • Experience using AI to enhance developer productivity (e.g., automation, code generation, intelligent tooling).
  • Expertise in high-transaction, high-data-volume SaaS platforms, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning workflows, data pipelines, and AI model deployment in production.
