Overview:
We are seeking an experienced data champion to elevate our digital and ecommerce data & analytics practice. This role will require both strategic and ‘hands-on’ leadership, responsible for leading all ecommerce data initiatives. Key responsibilities include using data and analytics to identify key insights, share data-informed strategies with cross-functional partners to drive growth across e-commerce platforms. This individual has a deep curiosity for data and problem solving, and willing to take action. A strong communicator, this individual knows how to present analyses and strategic findings at all levels of the organization. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of digital and ecommerce analytics for Beiersdorf USA. This role has a hybrid working arrangement, meaning candidates must be able to commute into our Stamford, CT headquarters 3x per week and can work remotely 2x per week.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership in E-commerce Analytics
- Develop and implement the data and analytics strategy for e-commerce growth across all online platforms such as Amazon, Pureplay accounts, Omnichannel accounts, and Social commerce
- Identify emerging beauty/personal care trends and consumer behaviors to guide business decisions
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align analytics initiatives with the ecommerce organization’s overarching goals, such as market share, NS growth, and new to brand acquisition
- Lead and expand data science capabilities, overseeing the development of predictive models, machine learning solutions, and advanced analytical frameworks
- Stay abreast of emerging AI and data science technologies, trends, and standard methodologies, and assess their relevance to the organization
Sales Performance Analysis and Optimization
- Build out and complete a powerful data visualization strategic plan for commercial performance dashboards through BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI, SIGMA). This is inclusive of views for business reviews and ongoing analysis
- Track and report on e-commerce KPIs such as sales by category, CVR, NTB, traffic, etc.
- Monitor the impact of category-specific promotions, seasonal trends, and social/influencer activations on sales performance
Media Campaign Effectiveness
- Measure the ROI of performance marketing campaigns, including impact of full funnel campaign activations – retail media, social, influencer, etc
- Track the performance of paid media strategies (e.g., Amazon DSP, WMC Search, etc) on traffic, conversions, new customer acquisition
- Analyze results to build clear post-campaign insights and paid media mix recommendations for future campaigns – i.e. new product launches, seasonal eventing
Inform Inventory and Demand Forecasting
- Leverage predictive analytics/modelling and machine learning capabilities to plan and forecast demand for hero SKUs during peak periods like holidays, seasonal eventing, and new product launches
- Develop and implement operational and technological solutions to reduce sales forecasting error, enabling more consistency and reliability
- Work closely with supply chain and account management teams to determine ideal inventory levels for meeting customer needs and avoiding excess inventory or stock shortages
Track & Measure Online Marketplace Trends/Activity
- Analyze competitor activity in the beauty/personal care e-commerce space, including pricing strategies, promotions, and product launches
- Monitor reviews and ratings to understand consumer sentiment and identify potential gaps in the market
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of total experience; 8+ years focused on ecommerce data and analytics (similar role)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field. MBA/Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with enterprise Data & Analytics tools and methodologies is required
- Experience defining a Data & Analytics strategy aligned with operational, tactical, strategic and advanced analytics business requirements
- Extensive experience with data platforms, data warehouse, data lake, data architecture, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools
- Familiarity with current developments in e-commerce, media, and digital marketing
- Prior experience within CPG and multi-brand environment is required
- Ability to build partnerships and influence without authority across cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, with a strong ability to lead multiple priorities and projects
- Excellent SQL skills with experience using statistical programming languages (Python, R, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets
- Experience creating executive-level dashboards using visualization tools like, Tableau, or PowerBI
- Prior experience in people and team management of 2-5 years highly desirable. Strong desire to be a mentor and help grow & educate a team
