Transforming The Way Construction Owners Use Technology & Data
Avicado is on a mission to modernize its technology stack by integrating AI-powered tools to enhance efficiency, improve knowledge management, and drive automation across the company. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to lead the execution of our AI-powered data infrastructure vision.
We are seeking a self-driven and resourceful Data Infrastructure & AI Integration Lead to lead the development and implementation of our centralized data platform. In this role, you will architect a unified, cloud-based data store that serves as the single source of truth for both reporting and AI-powered applications. You will be responsible for integrating diverse data sources—from structured systems to unstructured assets—into a cohesive infrastructure that supports real-time information retrieval and decision-making. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, with the potential to transition to the IT team as AI adoption matures within Avicado, you will have the opportunity to shape our internal technology landscape and drive significant operational improvements.
You will love this job if…
- You are a high performer, self-starter, and love to learn.
- You take ownership of projects and drive impact.
- You connect and grow both inside and outside the organization.
- You like to have fun and be your authentic self.
What you’ll do…
- Central Data Store Architecture:
- Design and implement a scalable, cloud-based repository as the single source of truth for business intelligence and AI-driven applications.
- Integrate a vector database (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, or ChromaDB) for efficient storage and retrieval of unstructured knowledge.
- Data Integration & Ingestion:
- Extract and integrate structured (financial, sales, project data) and unstructured (policies, historical Q&A) data from multiple systems.
- Develop automated ETL/ELT pipelines to ensure timely and accurate updates to the centralized data store.
- AI Backend & Application Development:
- Serve as the primary AI developer, designing and deploying custom AI models and applications that enhance internal operations.
- Architect AI-powered solutions using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for accurate, real-time responses with source citations.
- Develop solutions such as intelligent chatbots capable of answering questions about HR, expense reporting, and internal process.
- Implement a feedback loop to continuously improve the accuracy and relevance of AI responses
- Collaboration & Project Management:
- Work closely with VP of Operations, IT, Biz Ops, and People & Talent teams to align data infrastructure with company objectives and reporting needs.
- Lead pilot projects and iterate on prototypes based on user feedback and performance metrics.
- Document architectural decisions, data flows, and AI integration processes to support scalability and future knowledge transfer.
- Work closely with IT to ensure data security, governance and compliance across systems and tools.
- Work closely with People & Talent to develop and deliver training materials and sessions to ensure effective adoption of the AI-powered tools among employees.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies in data engineering and AI.
- Continuously enhance processes by implementing iterative improvements based on evolving business needs and user feedback.
You should have

- Proven ability to deliver end-to-end technical projects in dynamic environments.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, or similar programming languages.
- Strong problem-solving skills to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with AI concepts, including natural language processing (NLP), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and vector databases.
