Job description

Risk Strategies Consulting, Inc. (“RSC”) is seeking a highly skilled professional to support our clients' healthcare initiatives through data-driven analytics and emerging data science methodologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mathematical foundation, an analytical mindset, and the ability to communicate strategies, methodologies, and data-driven insights effectively to both internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a proactive, problem-solving approach and a willingness to learn and adapt to evolving industry practices. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and contribute directly to our clients' financial strategies and decision-making processes.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex healthcare datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develop and present reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings.
  • Identify healthcare trend drivers and financial impacts related to medical and pharmacy claims.
  • Conduct analyses such as medical carrier network valuations, discount assessments, and pricing benchmarks.
  • Design scalable data models, reporting solutions, and data mining tools.
  • Address data anomalies and discrepancies using professional judgment and expertise.
  • Act as a strategic advisor on data mining techniques for uncovering new insights.
  • Provide expertise on product development, including methodologies, coding requirements, and feasibility assessments.
  • Build predictive models to evaluate financial outcomes of healthcare initiatives.
  • Translate complex statistical and modeling results into accessible insights for diverse audiences.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Computer Science.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Actuarial Analyst, Data Analyst, or Data Scientist in the healthcare sector.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL, R, Python, SAS, or similar statistical computing languages.
  • Proven expertise in data mining and data visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Strong background in medical and pharmacy utilization reporting, trend analysis, and actionable insights generation.
  • Experience with underwriting insurance premiums is a plus.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to collect, interpret, and present data accurately and effectively.
  • Extensive experience with healthcare databases and data sources, including claims, encounters, lab results, and EMR systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare/medical economics data such as hospital/physician/ASC claims, utilization data and healthcare industry coding systems ICD-10, CTP/HCPCS, Revenue Codes, MS/APR-DRGs and APC.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, conceptualize, problem solve, and disseminate information confidently and collaboratively with attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.

At Risk Strategies Company, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off and paid holidays for eligible employees. The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base pay range for this position is between $109,400 - $130,000 annually. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including geographical location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
