Description

We are seeking an experienced Head of Sales who will report directly to the Chief Financial & Business Officer. The Head of Sales is a key member of the Commercial Leadership team. This position will work closely with and maintain an effective, collaborative relationship with all internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Medical Affairs, Commercial Operations and Analytics, and Market Access to drive brand strategies and tactics for success, as well as successfully drive business objectives and ensure patient access to company’s therapies. 


The Head of Sales will lead a highly effective commercial sales force and provide both hands-on tactical and strategic vision for managing all aspects of the sales function. The incumbent will lead the efforts to create and drive our sales strategy, including hiring, training, launch execution, resource planning and allocation, data analysis and application, overall performance management of the sales force and effective collaboration across functions to meet the business needs. We are searching for an individual who has demonstrated the ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a sales organization and consistently deliver results. This is a remote-based position located in the United States.


Responsibilities:

  • Builds current and future competitive advantages by understanding and addressing customer needs and demonstrating a deep understanding of competitors' strategies
  • Fosters a leadership culture, which attracts, develops, and retains high-caliber candidates, fosters a culture of diversity, innovation and teamwork that will drive the future success of the organization
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive selling model, sales strategy, and national business plan to support the short and long-term revenue objectives
  • Contributes to sales forecasting activities and manages US Sales budget
  • Analyzes both National and Regional trends and develops and implements strategies that align with a changing marketplace
  • Partners with commercial counterparts, as well as other functional leaders, to effectively align sales objectives with brand and company goals
  • Coordinates and partners with Market Access to ensure the coordination of efforts and priorities between the channel, payer, and sales groups
  • Effectively communicates strategic direction to the field and fosters a culture of personal accountability for owning one’s territory/region
  • Ensures Sales teams have optimal training, tools, and process to achieve targets
  • Works closely with all cross-functional groups, providing input representing the field and ensuring any follow-on execution of sales program implementation
  • Understands and utilizes business analytics, effectively assessing and diagnosing trends and behaviors to develop plans that support strategic sales objectives
  • Significantly contributes to the development of incentive compensation plans that drive performance and effective behaviors
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years; Master’s degree with 12+ years; or PhD with 8+ year’s experience. Proven strategic management experience demonstrating business acumen, developing and delivering strategy and vision, delivering results, championing innovation, coaching and developing subordinates including remote teams
  • Proven record as an effective sales leader with demonstrated understanding of all Oncology sales-related processes (targeting/segmentation, planning, objective setting, training, execution, performance management, reward/recognition, etc.)
  • Demonstrated success in leadership competencies, creative problem-solving, and team partnership 
  • Knowledgeable in all applicable laws and regulations related to the pharmaceutical industry
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written presentation capabilities 
  • Excellent ultra-orphan and general oncology business acumen and knowledge of key community accounts and academic Medical Centers
  • High science aptitude including the ability to quickly assimilate complex information such as Oncology markets, and competitive products
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully being able to lead others both by example and through direct authority while holding teams accountable to effectively execute and drive sales
  • Demonstrated track record of successful business planning and execution of strategic plan
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, professional relationships
  • Dynamic, self-starter with strong influential skills, as well as entrepreneurial spirit

The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $230,000 to $300,000. Final compensation depends on multiple factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skillset, depth and breadth of knowledge, internal equity, and external market factors.
