Job description

Position Overview: 
We are seeking a highly skilled Director of eCommerce to lead and optimize the strategy and operations of our online store. This individual will bring a unique blend of financial expertise, technological and data acumen, and leadership abilities to drive the growth of our e-commerce platform and team. The Director of eCommerce will collaborate closely with the Store Operations Manager to analyze product pricing, develop strategies to procure new brands, and grow and develop the overall performance of our online store. The ideal candidate will be data-driven, an expert in their field, and passionate about optimizing user experience to maximize conversion rates. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Develop and execute eCommerce growth strategies in collaboration with the Store Operations Manager. 
  • Identify and onboard new brands to expand product offerings and enhance customer appeal. 
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the new eCommerce team. Train and lead a high-performing team with a focus on eCommerce, CRO, and data analytics.  
  • Oversee store operations including product presentation, inventory management, and strategies to drive sales and optimize product launches 

Financial Analysis & Pricing: 

  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis of pricing for hundreds of products to optimize profitability and inform product and pricing strategies.  
  • Develop and launch international sales alongside the Accounting and Legal teams  
  • Monitor key financial metrics and ensure alignment with business goals. 

Data Analysis & Reporting: 

- Generate, analyze, and interpret performance reports to identify trends and areas for improvement, including in areas of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI). 

- Implement testing and experimentation strategies to improve conversion rates and customer engagement. Regularly conduct UX research, user testing, and feedback sessions to refine and improve the user experience.  

- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing CRO and data analysis program with a testing roadmap, funnel optimization, and continuous iteration based on data insights. 

Technological Expertise: 

  • Leverage analytics tools and design systematic automations to enhance operational efficiency. 
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and trends in the eCommerce space to maintain a competitive edge. 
  • Lead the design, development, and launch of new pages and features, ensuring they align with business goals and user experience 

Mentorship & Collaboration: 

  • Provide mentorship and support to the Store Manager and eCommerce team, fostering professional growth and development. 
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and technology teams to align eCommerce initiatives with broader business objectives.  

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is a plus. 
  • Proven leadership and success in direct-to-consumer eCommerce with a strong focus on financial analysis and pricing strategies. Experience in travel or attraction industries a plus.  
  • Must have 3-5 years of experience in an eCommerce environment. 
  • Expertise in driving sales and online performance through CRO, data-driven experimentation, analysis, design, and development  
  • Expertise in data analytics, data tracking, and using data to inform key business decisions. Should also have a familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, Power BI, Excel, and eCommerce platforms. 
  • International Expansion: Experience in driving international growth and product expansion 
  • Experience with UX/UI testing and experimentation to improve online conversion rates. 
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication 
  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience mentoring and developing team members. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally effectively. Must have a baseline understanding of the functions of marketing, operations, and technology teams to ensure good communication and collaboration 
  • A passion for staying ahead in a rapidly evolving digital commerce environment.
