Area Sales Manager - Scientific

Location: Home Based (covering Oxford, Birmingham and Bristol as well as surrounding areas)

Type: Permanent, Full-Time, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)

Company Car / Cash Allowance, Commission Scheme

We have been supporting the laboratory research and testing market with our water purification products and services for many years, both within industry and academia.  We are a well established manufacturer in this market and our Elga and other Veolia units are trusted by many laboratories world wide.   The UK plays a critical role in global research, and investment in the UK research remains high with constructive government support. Industry, medical research and universities continue to plan for major refurbishments and new developments for new, modern laboratories.

As Area Sales Manager you will be responsible for promoting and selling our range of  water treatment equipment and  services into our diverse laboratory customer base.  This will entail both equipment within the laboratory as well as larger infrastructure installations around the lab.  Your hunter mentality and enthusiasm will play a key role in delivering new business growth in defined areas.

 

What will I be doing…

 

Drive Sales: Achieve quarterly financial targets by expanding sales within your territory, developing prospects, and nurturing existing relationships while securing new business to drive annual growth and grow your pipeline

Collaborate: Work with the internal teams to support customers,  develop marketing campaigns, and bring new ideas and initiatives , to optimise results and deliver customer focused solutions.

Relationship Management: Understand client needs, craft tailored proposals, and deliver added value by regularly engaging with clients to build long-term partnerships and ongoing business.

Financial Accountability: Manage profitability and spending in line with company objectives.

Site Visits: Carry out on-site simple chemistry based water testing to assess customer needs to inform the correct solutions and configurations

Industry Engagement: Attend trade shows and conferences to network and promote the business.

Market Intelligence: Monitor competitors and identify new business opportunities.

CRM Management: Maintain and update client and prospect data in the VWT CRM system.

What you will bring to the role…

 

We are looking for a driven, results orientated individual with a “hunter” mentality who is eager to deliver business growth targets and progress, grow and develop in their role.

We want someone with the drive and vision to move us forward. So you’ll need to be full of ideas with good awareness to understand our product/service and the markets we operate in.

Education and Experience: A degree in Science, Technical, Business or similar, or qualified by experience. Field-based sales experience in the scientific market is a plus.

Creative and Results-Driven: Innovative, and focused on driving new business growth with a passion for sales and the confidence to negotiate successfully to close deals.

Excellent Communicator: Outstanding influencing, communication, and negotiation skills to make an immediate impact.

Collaborative: Ability to work closely with internal teams, leveraging knowledge to maximise opportunities.

Relationship Builder: Experience building strong, long-lasting relationships both internally and externally.

Adaptable & Technical: Strong problem-solving skills, technical competence, and the ability to adapt to new challenges.

Digitally Proficient and Detail-Oriented: Skilled in using a range of digital tools and systems, including CRM software (Salesforce), pipeline and contact management platforms, sales management systems, and reporting tools.
