Executive Sales Specialist – Human Array – Genotyping (UK, Ireland and North 

Europe – Remote 

This role can be based in our Illumina European hubs including the UK, Ireland, Benelux and the Nordics.

 

The Role 

 

As Executive Sales Specialist within Human Array for UK, Ireland and North, you will be responsible for protecting, expanding and creating new human array business in identified growth areas in the UK, Ireland and North region in collaboration with subregional account management, sales specialists, global product management and additional support functions to achieve long term revenue growth and profitable margins for Illumina. 

 

The human array portfolio comprises solutions for polygenic-risk scoring, pharmacogenomics, cytogenetics, molecular blood typing, and epigenetics (methylation) and we expect the Human Array Specialist to grow the business especially in these areas.

You will be the commercial subject matter expert for all human arrays, workflows and software solutions (on market and new products). The human array specialist is also responsible for supporting large accounts and strategic deals in the subregion, as well as developing and sustaining strong relationships with key customers and thought leaders and maintaining regular interactions between the customers and the Illumina management team.

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Responsible for all aspects of customer relationship management, portfolio management, proposal development, and intelligence gathering within the human array markets.  

  • Develop strategic plans for winning new business, expanding market share, and building upon existing programs manifested by a qualified pipeline of opportunities. Identify innovative and competitive solutions to the customer's problems while maximizing the return on investment for the company.  

  • Execute strategies and campaigns in core competencies and domains to target and win large human array opportunities. Identifies, qualifies, shapes, and recommends pursuit of large ($1M+) opportunities.  

  • Lead by example as a continuing business winning practitioner and participate in campaign planning, regional marketing activities, customer relationship management, win strategy development.  

  • Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the market environment including current and possible future market trends, applications, practices and information affecting the business; industry trends; competition and competitive environment; and, marketplace strategies and tactics.  

  • Initiates, develops, builds, and maintains long-term relationships with all levels of customers. Fosters an environment defined by strong customer focus.  

  • Provide thought leadership in pursuing new and/or unconventional approaches to solve customer challenges, empowering and inspiring others to think and approach challenges in innovative ways.  

  • Work cooperatively and constructively with other functional roles and teammates under the Illumina team selling model that includes various specialist roles, account managers, key account managers, district sales managers, inside sales, and in some geographies, distribution channel managers.  Adherence to the spirit and goals of this model will be critical to the success of the team and achievement of financial objectives. 

 

 

Preferred Educational Background: 

PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Chemistry or Biochemistry desired. Alternatively, M.S. + relevant work experience.  

 

Preferred Experiential Background: 

  • Significant Sales or customer facing experience required.   
  • Experience with DNA microarray technology and genotyping applications is highly desired. In lieu of this, experience with other genomic technologies and molecular biology techniques, is required. 
  • Research experience working in the Genotyping field is a plus.  
  • Basic experience with product commercialization. 
  • Ability to discuss problems and solutions with customers and prospects. 
  • Independent and strategically minded.  
  • Willing to work in a fast paced environment.  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Must be able to give customer facing presentations.  
  • Excellent communication and team management skills. 
  • Ability to work as a member of a multifunctional team. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook required. SFDC and JDE knowledge a plus.  
  • Travel up to 50-60%.
