Overview:
Cordoba is a leading civil engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Director of Water Projects with hands-on experience and a proven record of project execution and business development in California. This is a “Doer-Seller” role. The primary functions will be winning new work from key potable and recycled water industry clients and executing project scope of work within schedule, budget, and client expectations. The Director will develop staff, grow our Water Sector and perform business development to meet and exceed Sector goals and objectives. Project components may include pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities and treatment systems. The ideal candidate will be proactive and excel in an entrepreneurial environment with limited support and guidance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and update strategic plans to meet the Cordoba Water Sector annual and long-term goals.
- Collaborate and build strong client relationships by proactively engaging with clients and consistently delivering high-quality services.
- Maintain a strong client network within the water industry to identify emerging developments and potential partnerships.
- Grow and develop contracts with existing and new clients.
- Meet or exceed sales targets by successfully promoting the firm’s capabilities in water projects.
- Participate in proposal development and presentations, creating responses that closely align with the client’s proposal goals, objectives and selection criteria
- Develop proposal approach using innovative delivery methods.
- Support growth of the Water sector by recruiting and helping to develop talent to support future project demands.
- Lead and manage water-focused projects ensuring high-quality project delivery within scope, budget, schedule, risk, and strategic approach.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on Water Sector management and infrastructure projects.
- Manage quality assurance/quality control on project deliveries for current and new clients.
- Support the development of processes, procedures, and standards to ensure future quality delivery.
- Manage resource allocation to maximize team efficiency.
- Adopt a collaborative team environment, mentor and coach junior staff on technical skills and project management.
- Work with all Cordoba sectors (Transportation, Energy-Electric, Energy-Gas/Hydrogen, Facilities, Education, Renewables) for cross-functional support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field required
- 10-15 years of design, engineering, project management, and business development experience with potable and recycled water projects required
- 5-10 years of experience of business development required
- Proven track record of winning work from Southern CA municipalities and water/wastewater agencies required
- California Professional Engineering License (CA PE) highly preferred
- Business acumen to deliver complex projects and lead project teams
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, analytical, and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task high priorities and work within a team environment
- Advanced written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic
Pay Range: $160,000 - $210,000 per year
Work Location: Remote with occasional travel for site visits and meetings as required in CA (California residents only)
Travel: Up to 5-15% within the Northern California and Southern California areas
Visa Sponsorship: Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship
