Job description

Job Title: Pre and Post Grant Award Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pre and Post Grant Award Specialist to manage all aspects of pre-award proposals, annual progress reports, and final reporting submissions. The role ensures compliance with institutional, federal, and state requirements governing sponsored research activities. You will support faculty and staff in grant and sponsored program activities, including contract and subcontract preparation, and stay informed about changes in regulations and agency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Process all pre-award proposals, annual progress reports, and final reporting submissions, including all components of each submission.
  • Ensure compliance with all institute and sponsor requirements, implementing all relevant federal, state, and institutional policies.
  • Manage the sponsored research program in alignment with the institution's needs, priorities, and competencies.
  • Research and interpret funding opportunities and requests for proposals from government agencies and foundations, evaluate them for appropriateness, and make recommendations.
  • Assist with proposal development, compilation, and final submission.
  • Continually review and update information on changes in federal regulations, specific agency requirements, and procedures for administering funded awards.
  • Provide oversight and support to faculty and staff in grant and sponsored program activities, including contract and subcontract preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with subrecipient monitoring, FFATA, and key personnel requirements.
  • Stay knowledgeable about current and changing requirements of major funding agencies and federal regulatory requirements governing sponsored research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with NIH RO1, R21, R35 grants.
  • Proficient in managing month-end processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, math, economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of budget management.
  • Experience in proposal preparation and submission.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal regulations and agency requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Work Environment

This role operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility to start as early as 7:30 AM. The position is fully remote, but candidates can choose to work from the office a few days a week if desired. The team consists of two members: the Senior Director of Finance and a Bookkeeper. The role does not involve managing a team. We offer excellent benefits, including a solid 401(k) plan.
