JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Manager will be responsible for the sales and business development of SPXFLOW Mixer brands, products and services to customers in the Sub-Sahara Africa region, especially Ghana and West Africa.
The Sales Manager will proactively interact with existing and new customers to expand the customer base, develop the customer relationship, troubleshoot the specific customer concerns or problems, generate leads and opportunities, all with the objective to achieve the specified sales and business development targets.
The Sales Manager will develop and implement strategies to grow sales and profitability with existing customers, provide support to the current sales team and channel partner network and to look for business opportunities with new customers.
This role requires extensive travel in the region focusing on customers in the Mining & Minerals Processing, Chemical, Industrial, Oil & Gas Industries and Nutrition & Health Industries.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sell and promote SPX FLOW Mixers brands, products, spares, and services in assigned territories, either directly to the Customer or via Local Agents / Distributors (where necessary).
- Communicate regularly and consistently with existing and potential Customers to generate leads and opportunities.
- Liaisa with Customers and conduct on-site meetings as necessary to understand requirements, to obtain order commitment, to finalize designs and to resolve concerns / complaints.
- Coordinate with the Service Operations team to facilitate support to customers, for equipment and product servicing, troubleshooting and repair.
- Work closely with the Field Service Technician by planning and coordinating site visits plant audits, mixer health checks, service work, etc.
- Develop and expand relationships with existing and potential Customers and EPC’s and maintain close relationships with key Customers.
- Follow up with Customers to ensure SPX Flow products and services are meeting their requirements and expectations.
- Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports (forecast, customer visit report, etc.) showing sales volume including potential sales, monitored against the budget, with action plans to address variations.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations and technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other Regional Sales Managers, sharing information and opportunities.
- Understand current and future needs of Customers and advise on the appropriate SPX Flow products and services to meet their requirements and propose alternative solutions as necessary.
- Investigate and coordinate the resolution of complaints raised by Customers and troubleshoot their concerns.
- Coordinate with the Finance / Accounts team and be aware of and problems with Supplier and Customer accounts.
- Coordinate and actively participate in the order hand over meeting with the Manufacturing Facility, Project Manager and Supply Chain Team. Provide clarification on any specific project requirements and on any technical or commercial queries.
- Review the market potential for assigned products in the assigned territories and compile a strategy and action plan together with the Sales Director in order to maximize market potential and achieve targets.
- Evaluate and determine optimum route to market, including a pricing and marketing strategy and identify suitable partnership Companies to sell SPX Flow products and services.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity in the assigned territories. Report any concerns or opportunities and share any solutions or action plans with the Sales Director.
- Participate in trade shows, exhibitions and seminars either directly or in conjunction with Local Agents / Distributors.
- Represent the Company in a professional manner aligned to the SPX Flow Values and ensure all activities comply with both legal and ethical standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience in and willingness for extensive travel in the Sub-Sahara Africa region, particularly in Ghana and West Africa
- Demonstrate strong expertise, particularly in mixer/rotating products and mixing processes, enabling the provision of sophisticated technical solutions to clients.
- Current end user and EPC contacts and relationships within the Mining and Minerals Processing Industry will be advantageous
- Communicates effectively, effortlessly tailoring the approach to the audience and the level of technical competence
- Exhibits confidence with negotiations and possesses the power to influence
- Thinks creatively and has in-depth engineering knowledge to solve problems and provide technical solutions
- Must be able to define a problem, assess risk, and develop recommendations for action plans
- Displays exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, even when handling multiple demands and has a proven track record of meeting high performance standards
- Ability to analyzes and interprets common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Is well organized, structured and methodical. Is self-motivated and works independently with little supervision

- Communicates fluently (verbal and written) in English - essential
- Responds professionally to all inquiries and complaints and remains calm and composed when under pressure
- Ability to establishes relationships across multiple locations and copes well with working remotely from the team and other departments
- Possesses a valid South African Driving License & Passport
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical) or equivalent experience
- Min 15 years’ experience in a commercial role specific to the African Mining industry.
- Candidates with direct mixer experience or industrial rotating equipment will be preferred.
- Preference for candidates with a proven sales track record
- Additional Experience in the oil & gas / chemical / industrial market will be advantageous
- Strong working experience of SAP and Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM and Power BI.
