We are currently on the lookout for a talented Project Estimator to help support our Solutions & Estimating organization. The Project Estimator will be a key member of the Solutions & Estimating Team. The Project Estimator reports to the SVP, Solutions & Estimating, or their designee.
PROJECT ESTIMATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete detailed cost estimates for Projects; including permanent and temporary installations, museum exhibits, millwork/metalwork, “Special Projects”, retail fit-outs, and general contracting.
- Prepare estimate summaries and present them to sales and leadership.
- Assist in maintaining and updating SAP (Standard ASTOUND Pricing) for use as a company-wide tool.
- Work with 3rd party vendors, and suppliers for pricing, and new product information and become a product expert in as many areas as possible.
- On occasion, attend Design Solution meetings and contribute ideas for design, meeting budget criteria.
- Work with Project Management, and the Project Development groups to create solutions and
- Provide consultation to the Design group on cost-effective solutions and “Value Engineering” to help the designs come in on budget.
- Participate in creating RFP and bid/tender submission packages, providing pricing, technical data, production timelines, etc. as required.
- Participate in process, procedure, and pricing tool upgrades for the Solutions & Estimating department.
- Working within one of the ASTOUND production facilities and flexible work from home options when approved by report-to.
- Other duties as requested by the direct report.

- Maintain a positive mindset, encourage teamwork, and act as an impeccable brand ambassador for ASTOUND.

PROJECT ESTIMATOR DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Positive attitude and can be a good team player
- Strong time management and scheduling skills
- High skill level working with MS Excel
- Proactive, self-starter style work ethic
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Working knowledge of millwork fabrication, materials, and construction methods
- Experience with SalesForce.com is considered an asset
- Construction and/or Architecture education or a similar level of experience is considered a strong asset.
- Minimum 2 years experience in an estimating or project management role
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university is preferred. High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience is required.
- 2 years of experience in an estimating role and/or project management organization or other professional services firm experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.
- Highly motivated, responsive, and conscientious, with a commitment to delivering excellent service.
- Knowledge of sales systems is an asset (Salesforce).
- An enthusiastic learner with superior creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Has demonstrated consistent above-average performance evaluations in previous roles.
- Ability to work in an environment characterized by constant change and tight deadlines.
- Coordination & Administrative Skills: Possesses a high degree of competence working with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Organizational and time management skills: Ability to set priorities and plan well in advance to meet multiple shifting deadlines.
- Detail Oriented – Keen attention to detail required.
- Communication and interpersonal skills: Able to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely oral and written communication.
- Strong team player with innovative ideas who can partner with others (internal and external) to achieve objectives as well as the ability to work autonomously.
